The BMW Motorrad WorldSBK riders displayed fighting spirit at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli (ITA) as they attempted to cope with challenges during a weekend of adversity. On Sunday, Garrett Gerloff (USA) from the Bonovo action BMW Racing Team finished eighth in race two, recording his best result of the season so far in a main race.
After a four-week break from racing, BMW Motorrad Motorsport now travels to the Adriatic coast. This weekend (2nd to 4th June), Misano (ITA) is the venue for round five of the FIM Superbike World Championship 2023 (WorldSBK). Making a temporary return to the BMW Motorrad WorldSBK family is Tom Sykes (GBR), who is standing in for the injured Michael van der Mark (NED) until further notice.
At its second race outing, the new BMW M Hybrid V8 claimed its maiden podium result. At the Twelve Hours of Sebring (USA), round two of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, final-stint driver Nick Yelloly (GBR) crossed the line for BMW M Team RLL in second.

ROWE Racing and BMW M Motorsport will be aiming for joint success again in the major 24-hour races at the Nürburgring (GER) and Spa-Francorchamps (BEL) in the 2023 season. The team from St. Ingbert (GER) will race with two works-supported BMW M4 GT3 both at the Nordschleife and in the Endurance Cup of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS (GTWC).

Mount Panorama is calling. Next weekend (3rd to 5th February), BMW M Team WRT will make its first official appearance together with BMW M Motorsport at Bathurst, Australia. The team, led by principal Vincent Vosse, will be competing in the classic Bathurst 12 Hour endurance race at the Mount Panorama Circuit with two BMW M4 GT3s.
Just 598 days after the BMW Group board decision and 188 days after the roll-out, the new BMW M Hybrid V8 has completed its first endurance test at the 24 Hours of Daytona (USA). After a brief development period, the first BMW M Motorsport race car with a hybrid powertrain took on the great challenge of the classic endurance race – and both prototypes competing for BMW M Team RLL crossed the finish line.
After months of intensive preparation, the wait is over. This weekend, the BMW M Hybrid V8 – the first BMW M Motorsport prototype race car with a hybrid drive system – will make its race debut at the ‘Rolex 24’ at Daytona (USA). BMW M Team RLL will run two BMW M Hybrid V8 cars in the GTP class at the opening round of this season’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The team will be supported by numerous strong partners.

The ‘Roar before the 24’, the traditional three-day test event one week before the Rolex 24 at Daytona (USA) ended on Sunday with the qualifying sessions determining the starting grid for the 24-hour race. The two BMW M Hybrid V8 prototypes finished the GTP class session in seventh and eighth places and will start the season-opener of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship from the fourth row of the grid next Saturday.
BMW M Team WRT’s race debut with the BMW M4 GT3 was more than successful. Team principal Vincent Vosse and his crew claimed their maiden victory in their first race with the car. After a thrilling finish, the #7 BMW M4 GT3 took the chequered flag in first place. Third place for the #46 BMW M4 GT3 rounded off a successful weekend for BMW M Team WRT.
The BMW Junior Team programme has accomplished its major goal and turned talented youngsters into seasoned works drivers. Dan Harper, Max Hesse and Neil Verhagen will continue to compete as BMW Junior Team, but will also take on new challenges as BMW M works drivers.
The BMW M works driver squad for the 2023 season is gaining a well-known 21st member. Valentino Rossi (ITA) and BMW M Motorsport have agreed a works commitment that goes beyond the race appearances with BMW M Team WRT announced last week.
