More driving fun, more variety: MINI South Africa introduces the new MINI One to its 3-door and 5-door hatch model line-up.

After a successful market launch of the new MINI hatch in 2014, MINI South Africa is now expanding its model range. As of September 2015, the model program of the latest generation of the original in the premium segment of small cars will be expanded to include the MINI One 3-Door hatch and the MINI One 5-Door.

Midrand. After a successful market launch of the new MINI hatch in 2014, MINI South Africa is now expanding its model range. As of September 2015, the model program of the latest generation of the original in the premium segment of small cars will be expanded to include the MINI One 3-Door hatch and the MINI One 5-Door.

 

“The new MINI remains on course for growth. Since market introduction in May 2014, more than 1,352 units of the new MINI hatch have been delivered to local customers. In terms of our MINI 5-Door, 585 units have been delivered to customers since market introduction in November. We believe that the new MINI One will continue to offer MINI’s unique offering,” says Kabelo Rabotho, General Manager of MINI South Africa.

 

New engine features the latest MINI technology

Like all representatives of the latest model generation, the MINI One 3-Door hatch and MINI One 5-Door are powered by a new engine featuring cutting-edge MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology. The technology package of the MINI One is fitted with a 1.2 –litre, 3-cylinder engine that features turbocharging, petrol direct injection with centrally located injectors and variable camshaft control on the intake and exhaust side (double VANOS).

 

With an engine output of 75 kW and a maximum torque of 180 Nm which goes on stream at 1,400 rpm, the MINI One 3-Door hatch accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds, while the MINI One 5-Door clocks in at 10.1 seconds.


Power transmission to the front wheels is taken care of by a likewise newly developed 6-speed manual transmission offering optimised efficiency, reduced weight and a high level of shift comfort.

Like all MINI models, the new MINI One 3-Door and 5-Door, continue the tradition of the of the world’s leading premium small car brand. The distinctive characteristics of the new MINI, which include maximum driving fun, individual styling and the latest MINI technology, ensure that the new MINI One continues to also offer a go-kart driving experience like its siblings.

 

The retail price of the new MINI One, which includes VAT and CO2 tax starts at R259 800 for the MINI One 3-Door and R269 800 for the MINI One 5-Door.
