While the sun may still be struggling to emerge this spring, the BMW Motorrad
UK dealership network has already turned up the heat in preparation for the
appearance of two of the most eagerly awaited new models for some time.

The weekend of the 13-14 May will see an activity-filled double celebration at
BMW Motorrad showrooms nationwide as the hotly anticipated R1200 S sports boxer
and F800 S sports middleweight twin are launched to the public.

The themed Sport Weekend will be the first opportunity for motorcycle
enthusiasts to see the latest BMW sports models in all their glory at their
nearest BMW Motorrad dealership. Special events have been planned across the UK
and will include demonstrations and test rides of the new models, as well as
ride-outs to local biker meeting spots. There will also be the chance to enter
a national competition to win a complete sports outfit, including leathers,
helmet, boots and gloves. Sport is the name of the game and the R1200 S and
F800 S/ST will not let the crowds down.

BMW Motorrad's new F800 sports middleweight machines have been designed to fill
the gap in the current range between the single-cylinder F650 bikes and the
1200cc boxer-twin and four-cylinder motorcycles. The F800 Series will be
available in two versions - the sporty half-faired F800 S and the sports
touring orientated F800 ST (available end of May 2006) - and will provide a
thrilling ride for all bikers, from entry level to experienced.

The parallel twin engine at the heart of these machines is the first of its
kind in BMW's history and produces an impressive 85 hp and a punchy 63lb/ft of
torque. Combine this with a new suspension system, maintenance-free belt drive
and a light and responsive chassis, and you have a seriously fun bike for any
type of rider. At £5995 on the road and with special select finance and
insurance order, the purchase of an F800 S represents excellent value for
money.

Alongside the F800 S at the launch weekend is the most powerful production
boxer-twin the world has ever seen - the 122 hp R1200 S. Years of experience in
the International BoxerCup race series with the R1100 S has helped BMW develop
a machine that is faster, sharper and more dynamic than the predecessor model,
not to mention completely new from the ground up. The powerful "new generation"
engine with its 122 Nm of torque provides instant grunt and exhilarating
performance for quick riding. What really makes this machine stand out from the
crowd is its ability to perform as a track bike while keeping all the qualities
needed to make an exceptional road bike.

To see the R1200 S and F800 S for the first time or to register for a demo test
ride (motorcycle licence and photo identification required), just visit any of
the 34 BMW Motorrad dealerships within the UK and join the Sports Weekend
celebrations. To locate the nearest dealer, enthusiasts should call 0800 777
155 or visit www.bmw-motorrad.co.uk

CO2 emission information.

The values for fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and energy consumption shown were determined in a standardised test cycle according to the European Regulation (EC) 715/2007 in the version currently applicable. The figures refer to a vehicle with basic configuration in Germany and the range shown considers transmission (automatic or manual) and the different wheels and tyres available on the selected model and may vary during the configuration.

The values of the vehicles labelled with (*), are already based on the test cycle according to the new WLTP regulation and are translated back into NEDC-equivalent values in order to allow a comparison between vehicles. More information on the transition from NEDC to WLTP test procedures can be found here.

These figures are intended for comparison purposes and may not be representative of what a user achieves under usual driving conditions. For plug-in hybrid vehicles and battery electric vehicles the figures have been obtained using a combination of battery power and petrol fuel after the battery had been fully charged. Plug-in hybrid vehicles and battery electric vehicles require mains electricity for charging. The CO2 emissions labels are determined according to Directive 1999/94/EC and the Passenger Car (Fuel consumption and CO2 Emissions Information) Regulations 2001, as amended. They are based on the fuel consumption, CO2 values and energy consumptions according to the NEDC cycle.

A guide on fuel economy and CO2 emissions which contains data for all new passenger car models is available at any point of sale free of charge. For further information you can also visit this link.
