This year's wet and muddy BMF Show saw a great turnout on the BMW Motorrad UK
stand, boosted by the special appearance of two TV celebrities. BBC Two's
Hairy Bikers visited the BMW stand on Sunday afternoon to chat to fans and sign
copies of The Hairy Bikers Cookbook.

The pouring rain did not deter waterlogged BMF visitors from patiently queuing
to meet the Hairy pair. Si King and Dave Myers kept the crowd entertained for
three hours with stories of their cuisine-inspired trip to various countries
around the world while making the recent Hairy Bikers Cookbook television
series.

The Northern 'foodies' rode R1200 GS and F650 GS bikes in many countries during
their travels. Both models were on display on the BMW stand, along with a
number of other bikes from the 2006 BMW Motorrad range. The impressive display
included the recently launched F800 S sports middleweight, the R1200 S sports
boxer, the K1200 GT tourer and R1200 GS Adventure.

The GS Adventure had its UK dealer debut at the BMW Motorrad New Season Launch
weekend in March and the celebrations included an exclusive competition for one
lucky winner to ride away on BMW's new globetrotting machine - for free. The
BMF Show provided the perfect opportunity to draw the competition winner and
the Hairy Bikers did the honours.

Although the comedy duo proclaimed the winner to be Dave Myers, the actual
winner was in fact S J Bailey of Solihull, who completed his competition entry
at Clarks Motorcycles in Birmingham.

The bike has received excellent reviews in the media, with Britain's
top-selling motorcycle newspaper MCN quoting: "The latest GS Adventure makes
it even easier to do a 'Ewan and Charley'. Excellent on-road or off, it's just
the job for going round the block or round the world."

If the reaction at the BMF Show is anything to go by, many BMW fans have been
inspired to do a 'Si and Dave' and will be setting off around the world
sampling weird and wonderful culinary delights. Others may well just settle
for a copy of the cookbook, which is published by Penguin and available from
all good bookshops now, priced £20.

CO2 emission information.

The values for fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and energy consumption shown were determined in a standardised test cycle according to the European Regulation (EC) 715/2007 in the version currently applicable. The figures refer to a vehicle with basic configuration in Germany and the range shown considers transmission (automatic or manual) and the different wheels and tyres available on the selected model and may vary during the configuration.

The values of the vehicles labelled with (*), are already based on the test cycle according to the new WLTP regulation and are translated back into NEDC-equivalent values in order to allow a comparison between vehicles. More information on the transition from NEDC to WLTP test procedures can be found here.

These figures are intended for comparison purposes and may not be representative of what a user achieves under usual driving conditions. For plug-in hybrid vehicles and battery electric vehicles the figures have been obtained using a combination of battery power and petrol fuel after the battery had been fully charged. Plug-in hybrid vehicles and battery electric vehicles require mains electricity for charging. The CO2 emissions labels are determined according to Directive 1999/94/EC and the Passenger Car (Fuel consumption and CO2 Emissions Information) Regulations 2001, as amended. They are based on the fuel consumption, CO2 values and energy consumptions according to the NEDC cycle.

A guide on fuel economy and CO2 emissions which contains data for all new passenger car models is available at any point of sale free of charge. For further information you can also visit this link.
