MINI sales go through the (white/black) roof

MINI continues to take the UK car market by storm and less than four months
into 2002, sales have already matched those of 2001. Over 11,600 sales so far
this year mean that, to date, over 23,200 MINIs have been sold in the UK, with
a 60:40, MINI Cooper:MINI One split.

Trevor Houghton-Berry, General Manager, MINI said: "The sales generated by last
year's launch were phenomenal and we sold 2000 more MINIs than originally
anticipated. That said, 2002 is bringing us even better news. Our bespoke MINI
dealerships are proving a great success and we're getting a huge number of
test-drive requests through owners' recommendations. Test-drives are then
invariably leading to sales - the least surprising fact of the year!"

MINI aftersales news is just as encouraging. There is virtually 100 per cent
take-up of the MINI tlc service package that offers 5 years standard servicing
for £100, whilst over £75,000 worth of MINI Stuff - the lifestyle goodies that
include the infamous MINI cuckoo-clock - has been sold. As for factory fit
options, on average over £1300 worth are being ordered on each MINI One and
£2,000 on each MINI Cooper.

A factory-fit satellite navigation option is now available at £1460 on MINI One
and £1410 on Cooper. The system replaces the speedo in the classic central dial
with the speedo moving onto the steering column adjacent to the rev counter.
The addition of a rev counter to MINI One (standard on Cooper) accounts for the
£50 difference.

Two new colours were recently added to the range (Velvet Red metallic and
Pepper White) along with a dealer-fit roof rack that allows the attachment of a
luggage box, ski racks, snowboard racks and bike racks for the more
adventurous.
