It's summer, and BMW is encouraging motorcyclists to enjoy the best biking
season by visiting a BMW Motorrad dealership to test ride a Roadster model.
BMW's new Roadster promotion enables riders to experience a F650 CS, R850 R,
R1150 R or Rockster, fill in a coupon and enter a draw to win one of 20
SportIntegral helmets.
The promotion includes special insurance deals on the four BMW Roadster models
and is continuing until 30 September 2003. Details of the promotion will be
mailed to bikers throughout the UK and are also available from any BMW Motorrad
dealership.
The F650 CS is BMW's entry-level machine and has attracted a lot of attention
since it was recently launched - not just for its jam-busting qualities and
choice of funky colour schemes, but because it is one of the most user-friendly
and technologically advanced motorcycles currently available.
BMW's R850 R is smaller in capacity and less to insure than its R1150 R bigger
brother - it was specifically conceived as a machine for every-day use which
can also be ridden for pleasure. The R850 R is agile, manoeuvrable and more
controllable than many larger capacity machines. It requires minimal rider
input, has excellent rider ergonomics, clever aerodynamics and BMW's legendary
road holding.
The R1150 R was once described as the motorcycle industry's "best kept secret".
It's a so-called "naked" motorcycle of immense versatility. Unfaired it may be,
but the big flat-twin is no exercise in minimalism. Advanced engine management,
six-speed gearbox, superb aerodynamics, excellent rider ergonomics, dedicated
road suspension and optional ABS mean that this Roadster is equipped for any
challenge.
BMW's Rockster is a sportier version of the popular R1150 R model but uses the
same engine, gearbox, frame, swingarm and electrics. Look closer and you'll
recognise headlights from the formidable GS range, a fatter rear wheel, and
(from the R1100 S) a front mudguard and beefier Telelever tubes. There is also
a special Edition 80 Rockster to celebrate BMW's 80 years of producing
motorcycles.
BMW Insurance is offering special rates on the four Roadster models until the
end of September 2003. The F650 CS includes fully comprehensive cover for just
£220 for ages 26 and over, and £440 for riders aged 21-26 (subject to terms and
conditions). For new customers of the R850 R, R1150 R and Rockster, aged 26 and
over, the rating band for the bikes will be reduced by one level.
Details of BMW Motorrad's Roadster promotion are available from BMW Motorrad
dealerships or call the hotline - 0800 777 155 - for a free brochure.
