The all-new BMW 3 Series Touring goes on sale on 17 September, 2005, with an

space and comfort than the outgoing model, the new 3 Series Touring also
features a raft of enhancements for increased practicality.
Load space is now 460 litres with the rear seats in place and 1,385 litres with
the 60:40 split seats folded. This represents a 25 and 40-litre increase over
its predecessor respectively. For greater convenience, all new 3 Series
Tourings come with a split opening tailgate, a boot cover that automatically
lifts clear for easy access and two luggage straps plus a net and umbrella
holder.
Initially a 320d Touring and a 325i Touring will be launched but 320i, 330i and
330d engine variants arrive later in autumn 2005. All engine variants are mated
to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard or a six-speed automatic as an
option. Prices for the 320i, 330i and 330d will be announced at a later date.
BMW Service and Maintenance for 3 Series Convertible diesel and 3 Series
Touring:
BMW is pleased to announce its unique Service Inclusive packages are now
available on the 320Cd Convertible and the 330Cd Convertible. Four different
levels of servicing cover are available for each of the two models offered.
BMW Service covers the cost of all labour and parts for routine servicing
within the chosen time frame. Cover includes brake fluid, air filters, micro
filters, fuel filters, spark plugs, oil filters, engine oil and safety check.
The BMW Service and Maintenance option covers all the above plus brake pads,
brake discs, brake sensors, clutch assembly (if worn) and wiper blade rubbers.
In addition to these two main options buyers can also specify if cover is to
run for three years/36,000 miles or five years/60,000 miles.
Prices for these Service Inclusive offerings start at £390 for the BMW Service
option on a 320Cd Convertible rising to £1,300 for five years/60,000 miles
cover on BMW Service and Maintenance for a 330Cd Convertible.
The all-new BMW 3 Series Touring is also available with Service inclusive
packages with prices mirroring those of the diesel-powered 3 Series Convertible.
BMW scoops more awards:
BMW has scooped a clutch of awards to add to its burgeoning trophy cabinet. The
BMW 535d has recently been crowned 'Best Performance Car' by Diesel Car
magazine while the BMW 3 Series won 'Best User Chooser Car' in the industry
renowned Fleet World Honours.
The judging panel at the Diesel Car awards found the 535d to be superior to the
recently launched Jaguar S-Type 2.7d, with the panel of experts from Fleet
World praising the 3 Series' residual values, low maintenance costs,
reliability and driver appeal.
News of the awards comes swiftly after the BMW M5 powerplant was named overall
winner in the International Engine of the Year Awards 2005. BMW also achieved
six category wins in the IEOTY 2005 awards (the only manufacturer to have
achieved such a tally in a single year) and takes its total haul in the awards
to an unmatched 26.
500,000th BMW X5 produced:
The 500,000th BMW X5 has rolled off the production line at Spartanburg, BMW's
manufacturing plant in South Carolina, USA - some five and a half years after
the start of production in September 1999.
The 3.0-litre diesel-powered X5 in Midnight Blue with BMW Individual equipment,
a unique car representing a landmark in the history of both the X5 and
Spartanburg, is destined for a customer in Hamburg, Germany. Spartanburg is the
only manufacturing plant in the world to make the X5 with models being exported
to more than 120 countries.
Nelson Madela's 3 Series auctioned for record sum:
A BMW 318i signed by Nelson Mandela has raised £38,000 for charity following a
celebrity auction at Madame Tussauds in London. A mystery buyer outbid all
others in the room to become the proud owner of a limited edition 'Democracy
Car' signed by Nelson Mandela.
In total ten 3 Series 'Democracy Cars' were built to celebrate the tenth
anniversary of the first democratic elections held in South Africa. Workers at
BMW's Rosslyn Plant near Pretoria, South Africa, generously agreed to donate
their time for free to build the cars, while BMW and its suppliers gave parts
and components at no cost.
To increase the value of the cars and thus raise more money for charity, Nelson
Mandela agreed to sign each of the vehicles. His signature is displayed on an
interior trim panel located above the glove box next to a plaque verifying the
authenticity of the signature.
The proceeds from the UK auction will benefit the Nelson Mandela Children's
Fund and the UK children's charities Norwood and Shine. For further information

BMW supports Automotive Technician Accreditation:
BMW (UK) Ltd is delighted to support The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI)
in its introduction of the Automotive Technician Accreditation scheme. The
scheme was piloted by the IMI in Oct 2004 and BMW welcomed the opportunity to
take a leading role in the scheme's development. As a result of the pilot more
than 100 BMW technicians have taken the ATA assessment and are awaiting
accreditation.
BMW will be encouraging all technicians within its network to achieve
accreditation by passing the technician assessments at its national training
centre, the Centre for Development.
Steve Nash, Director of Aftersales at BMW (UK) Ltd said: "BMW is an
organisation committed to training and the achievement of high levels of
competence by its technicians. We are delighted that the IMI has pioneered a
scheme that will recognise these achievements and acknowledge the commitment of
skilled technicians within BMW and the rest of the industry. The ATA logo will
act as a guarantee of technical expertise and professionalism which can only be
good news for customers and for business."
