MINI UK has been working with the charity Whizz-Kidz since 2002 and has helped
raise funds and awareness during this time. With the launch of the new MINI on
the horizon, the time is right to see how MINI can help another organisation.
From January 2007, MINI will be offering its support to a new charity partner.
Whizz-Kidz is dedicated to transforming the quality of life of disabled
children and young people across the UK through the provision of customised
mobility equipment, training and advice.
Emma Bakhle, Whizz-Kidz Corporate Fundraiser, said: "We are delighted to have
been MINI's chosen charity partner for the last four years. Activities have
ranged from staff fundraising to participation in the London Marathon and other
sponsored events. Dealer events have not only raised some amazing sums for
Whizz-Kidz, but also widened knowledge of our work. It has been a great
partnership and we're thrilled with everything we have achieved together."
To date, the partnership has raised in excess of £120,000. Most recently, £3000
was raised at the British International Motor Show through donations on the
MINI Fake Invaders computer game. In addition, over 15,000 informative
postcards distributed on the show stand increased awareness of Whizz-Kidz.
Andy Hearn, General Manager, MINI UK, said: "Working with Whizz-Kidz has been a
rewarding experience for everyone concerned and I am glad that we have been
able to raise funds for such a deserving cause. Exciting times are ahead for
MINI with our new model and we look forward to sharing them again with a new
charity partner".
MINI is currently reviewing opportunities for charity support and plans to
announce a new alliance later this year.
