BMW has been making motorcycle clothing for over 20 years and its Rider
Equipment range was founded on the principles of safety, weather protection,
comfort and durability. It has one of the most comprehensive ranges of textile
and
leather clothing, but also produces helmets, boot and gloves - all of which are
built to
the highest possible standards.

For 2002, BMW's Rider Equipment range has been enhanced by the introduction of a
number of new items, including fully waterproof leather trousers, a denim-look
suit
that is non-tearing and non-abrasive and a new helmet developed by the BMW
Williams F1 team.

Atlantis 3 suit:
In 1993, BMW became the first manufacturer to include a water-resistant leather
suit
in its range and the Atlantis has been a permanent fixture ever since. The
latest,
third generation, Atlantis 3 leather suit is 100% waterproof thanks to
hydrophobically-treated water-resistant leather and an additional Gore-Tex
membrane.

The suede-look suit is made from strong nubuk leather and features removable CE
armour, a back protector, ventilated sleeves, stretch zones on the shoulders,
back,
knee, collar and waistband areas, and long and short zip connectors.

Available in all sizes and men's and women's cuts, the jacket costs £425 and the
trousers £350 (inserts available separately).

Leatherguard trousers:
Constructed from three-ply laminated nappa leather integrated with Gore-Tex,
BMW's
£395 Leatherguard trouser are fully-waterproof (including seams) and breathable.
With removable CE protectors at the knees and pockets, and a washable liner, the
Leatherguard trousers can be combined with a variety of jackets from the BMW
range.

Freeway suit:
Classically styled, the new BMW Freeway leather suit employs the same advanced
waterproofing technology as used in the Leatherguard trousers. For rider
comfort, the
Freeway suit uses ventilated sleeves, stretch zones above the knees and in the
upper-trouser area, as well as pre-formed knee and sleeve areas, making it
perfect
for touring.

The suit also features an all-round connecting zip, removable CE protectors at
the
knees, shoulders and elbows, a removable back plate and various pockets.
Available
in black, in men's and women's sizes, the Freeway costs £340 for the jacket and
£310 for the trousers.

Tourguard jacket:
Another new addition to BMW's Rider Equipment range is the Tourguard jacket.
Combining the latest technology, it is versatile enough to enable
all-year-round riding.

Featuring anti-tear and abrasion-proof Gore-Tex Armacor in all impact zones, and
tear resistant Cordura in all other areas, the waterproof textile jacket also
includes a
removable thermal insert, a double zip at the front, waterproof ventilation
under the
arms, and two waterproof outside pockets.

The Tourguard jacket is available in black or blue, and in men's and women's
sizes
for £475.

Black Denim suit:
BMW has created the look of denim in an incredibly strong motorcycle suit by
using
a material called InoTex - only available from BMW Motorrad. The material is
reinforced with Kevlar, making it both non-tearing and non-abrasive.

With removable CE protectors at the knee, elbow and shoulder areas, a back
protector, and ventilation zips in the sleeves, the Black Denim suit is
available in
sizes for men and women. The jacket costs £310 and the trousers £215.

AirFlow 2 suit :
The original airflow concept was introduced by BMW in 1999 and offered riders
the
benefit of air-porous materials for warm climate use. This was adapted across
the
range to include helmets, boots and gloves, as well as jackets and trousers.

The AirTex material is a mesh-like highly tear-resistant Dynafil polymide weave
incorporated in the chest, back and lower arm sections, and in the legs. The
rider is
kept cool by dissipation of body heat.

The AirFlow 2 suit is now available in a special cut for women. Active-breathing
Kevlar stretch fabric is used in the trousers to enhance rider comfort. In all
other
areas, an anti-tear, abrasion-resistant Dynatec material is used.

The AirFlow 2 suit also features removable CE protectors, ventilation zips on
the
trousers, reflective material, and ventilation channels with zips. In addition,
a
breathable, waterproof AirFlow weather protection suit can be added for use in
rain.

The jacket, which costs £235 is available in a variety of colours, while the
trousers
are available in black, black/grey and grey colour combinations for £180.

Savanna 2 Suit:
Like its predecessor (the Savanna) the new Savanna 2 suit has been designed with
enduro and touring riders in mind. It offers even greater storage capacity by
enlarging
the double-sectioned pockets on the front of the jacket. It also has a new
ventilation
feature in the chest section.

The exterior layer is made from a highly abrasive Dynatec material. This,
matched
with a Gore-Tex insert, makes the suit almost completely wind and waterproof.

For comfort, the Savanna 2 suit uses stretch fabric at the shin and seat
sections. It
also has adjustable sleeves, legs and waistband. There are ventilation zips on
the
sleeves, the back and upper thighs.

The Savanna 2 Suit is available in sizes for men and women. The jacket is
available
in grey/sand/blue, black/grey and grey/black/mandarin colours, while the
trousers
can be supplied in either sand, black and grey. The jacket costs £285 and the
trousers £210. A Gore-Tex insert costs £115 for the jacket and £95 for the
trousers.

Savanna boots:
Designed to match the Savanna 2 suit, BMW's Savanna boots are made from 2mm
thick cowhide with a Gore-Tex membrane. They are breathable, yet wind and
waterproof. For comfort, the boots have Kevlar stretch zones at the heel and
instep,
and suede sections on the inside shin.

The Savanna boots are available in black and in sizes 37-48 at £175.

Formula 1 helmet:
This helmet is worn by the BMW Williams F1 team and has a fireproof interior
made
of Nomex. The material consists of flame-resistant aramide fibres and has a
melting
point of 450 degrees Celsius.

The chinstrap is also made of Nomex and is fitted with the normal Formula 1
Double-D ring fastening. The carbon-fibre helmet shell has been additionally
reinforced with Kevlar.

The Formula 1 helmet comes in the BMW Williams F1 team colours and is available
to order only in sizes 54/55 and 62/63. The cost is £1,000.

conventional
leather.

CO2 emission information.

The values for fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and energy consumption shown were determined in a standardised test cycle according to the European Regulation (EC) 715/2007 in the version currently applicable. The figures refer to a vehicle with basic configuration in Germany and the range shown considers transmission (automatic or manual) and the different wheels and tyres available on the selected model and may vary during the configuration.

The values of the vehicles labelled with (*), are already based on the test cycle according to the new WLTP regulation and are translated back into NEDC-equivalent values in order to allow a comparison between vehicles. More information on the transition from NEDC to WLTP test procedures can be found here.

These figures are intended for comparison purposes and may not be representative of what a user achieves under usual driving conditions. For plug-in hybrid vehicles and battery electric vehicles the figures have been obtained using a combination of battery power and petrol fuel after the battery had been fully charged. Plug-in hybrid vehicles and battery electric vehicles require mains electricity for charging. The CO2 emissions labels are determined according to Directive 1999/94/EC and the Passenger Car (Fuel consumption and CO2 Emissions Information) Regulations 2001, as amended. They are based on the fuel consumption, CO2 values and energy consumptions according to the NEDC cycle.

A guide on fuel economy and CO2 emissions which contains data for all new passenger car models is available at any point of sale free of charge. For further information you can also visit this link.
