  • New BMW iDrive with ‘Quick Select’ and BMW Operating System 9 as standard
  • Available to order now priced from £44,560

BMW is continuing to expand its all-electric offering with the introduction of a new, more economical, variant of its popular Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV). The BMW iX1 eDrive20 (combined power consumption: 17.2 – 15.4 kWh/100 km according to WLTP; CO2 emissions: 0 g/km, provisional values) offers the same attractive design and spacious interior together with an increased fully-electric range. The second all-electric model variant of the compact SAV is powered by an electric motor with a maximum output of 204 hp (with temporary boost) and has a range of 268 to 296 miles (provisional values according to WLTP).

The new BMW iX1 eDrive20 will be available for delivery in the UK from the start of production in November 2023 at a recommended retail price of £44,560 for the Sport model. Whilst the xLine trim will be available for £46,5600 and M Sport will retail at £49,310. Alongside the BMW iX1 xDrive30, (combined power consumption: 18.1 – 17.1 kWh/100 km according to WLTP; CO2 emissions: 0 g/km) the latest model will be manufactured at the BMW Group plant in Regensburg.

Highly efficient electric drive, state-of-the-art charging technology, excellent range.

As with all of the BMW brand's current electric vehicles, the new BMW iX1 eDrive20 uses the company’s fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology. A highly integrated drive unit on the front axle of the new entry-level model generates an instantaneously available maximum torque of 247 Nm in addition to the maximum output of 204 hp. The compact SAV accelerates from zero to 62 mph in 8.6 seconds. Its top speed is electronically limited to 106 mph.

The high-voltage battery, which is housed in the vehicle floor to save space, has a usable energy content of 64.7 kWh. Its high energy density, together with the efficiency of the e-motor, contributes to the car’s favourable power consumption and delivers an excellent range compared to the competition. The Combined Charging Unit of the new BMW iX1 eDrive20 enables AC charging with up to 11 kW as standard. The high-voltage battery can be charged from zero to 100 percent of its capacity within 6.5 hours. Three-phase AC charging of up to 22 kW is optionally available, which reduces charging time to 3:45 hours. The battery can be charged using direct current with a power of up to 130 kW. With DC charging, battery's state of charge can be increased from 10 to 80 percent within 29 minutes at a fast-charging station.

Efficient charging software result in short charging times for this new variant. The charging power can be very specifically controlled while energy is being fed into the vehicle. In addition, anticipatory thermal management ensures that the temperature of the high-voltage battery is optimised in good time before a stopover at a fast-charging station. When the navigation system is active, the battery is automatically pre-conditioned before a planned charging stop. Pre-conditioning the battery can be manually activated and deactivated by the customer at any time.

New BMW iDrive with "QuickSelect" functionality.

The new BMW iX1 eDrive20 offers a comprehensive range of standard equipment, including the BMW Maps navigation system, 2-zone automatic air conditioning, a variety of modern driver assistance systems, the Parking Assistant including Reversing Assist Camera and other innovative digital services. The new BMW iDrive with "QuickSelect" and the new BMW Operating System 9 are also offered standard. The latest BMW Operating System enables a wider range of digital content for information and entertainment, faster update cycles for over-the-air functions as well as access to online services including third party apps, extended navigation and parking services. Through the new BMW Digital Premium offering it is possible to customise the system with additional digital services.

The BMW Curved Display is the heart of the driver’s cockpit. It consists of a 10.25-inch Information Display and a 10.7-inch Control Display both housed under single glass surface which is curved towards the driver. The latest BMW iDrive generation features a redesigned start screen with "QuickSelect". The system has an improved menu structure and user interface which is inspired by consumer electronic devices. "QuickSelect” enables functions to be accessed directly without having to switch between various submenus, making the latest BMW iDrive geared towards intuitive touch operation and voice control.

All figures relating to performance, fuel/electric power consumption and emissions are provisional.

All of the stated model variants, equipment features, technical data and fuel/electric power consumption and emissions figures relate to the offering in the German market. Dimensions and measurements refer to vehicles with basic configuration in Germany. These may vary depending on the items of optional equipment selected.

Official fuel consumption, CO2 emissions, electric power consumption and electric range figures were determined based on the prescribed measurement procedure in accordance with European Regulation (EC) 2007/715 in the version applicable. Where a range is shown, the WLTP figures take into account the impact of any optional extras.

Only official figures based on the WLTP procedure are available for new models that have been type tested since 01.01.2021. In addition, according to EU Regulation 2022/195, the NEDC values will no longer be included in the EC certificates of conformity as of 01.01.2023. Further information on the WLTP and NEDC measurement procedures can also be found at www.bmw.de/wltp.

Further information on official fuel consumption figures and specific CO2 emission values of new passenger cars is included in the following guideline: 'Leitfaden über den Kraftstoffverbrauch, die CO2-Emissionen und den Stromverbrauch neuer Personenkraftwagen' (Guide to the fuel economy, CO2 emissions and electric power consumption of new passenger cars), which can be obtained free of charge from all dealerships, from Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH (DAT), Hellmuth-Hirth-Str. 1, 73760 Ostfildern-Scharnhausen and at https://www.dat.de/co2.

CO2 emission information.

The values for fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and energy consumption shown were determined in a standardised test cycle according to the European Regulation (EC) 715/2007 in the version currently applicable. The figures refer to a vehicle with basic configuration in Germany and the range shown considers transmission (automatic or manual) and the different wheels and tyres available on the selected model and may vary during the configuration.

The values of the vehicles labelled with (*), are already based on the test cycle according to the new WLTP regulation and are translated back into NEDC-equivalent values in order to allow a comparison between vehicles. More information on the transition from NEDC to WLTP test procedures can be found here.

These figures are intended for comparison purposes and may not be representative of what a user achieves under usual driving conditions. For plug-in hybrid vehicles and battery electric vehicles the figures have been obtained using a combination of battery power and petrol fuel after the battery had been fully charged. Plug-in hybrid vehicles and battery electric vehicles require mains electricity for charging. The CO2 emissions labels are determined according to Directive 1999/94/EC and the Passenger Car (Fuel consumption and CO2 Emissions Information) Regulations 2001, as amended. They are based on the fuel consumption, CO2 values and energy consumptions according to the NEDC cycle.

A guide on fuel economy and CO2 emissions which contains data for all new passenger car models is available at any point of sale free of charge. For further information you can also visit this link.
