BMW and MINI’s model range for 2012.

Jakarta.  BMW Group Indonesia announced its aggressive product lineup for 2012 to the press at Bestindo Car Utama’s showroom in Bintaro today.  Mr. Ramesh Divyanathan, President Director of BMW Group Indonesia said that the company will continue to strengthen the BMW and MINI image in Indonesia through marketing activities and product offensive strategy.  Along 2012, the company will introduce 9 new models and 3 new engine variants for BMW and 4 new models and 4 Special Editions for MINI.

The new models introduced in the market will continue to feature more BMW EfficientDynamics and BMW ConnectedDrive technologies. BMW EfficientDynamics covers all BMW technology innovations developed with the purpose of reducing fuel consumption and emissions while maintaining its high performance.  BMW Connected Drive is a concept developed by BMW Group to connect the driver to their vehicle and their world in an intelligent manner offering convenience, infotainment and safety. 

The 2012 highlight for BMW in Indonesia is the BMW ECO PRO and integrated BMW Navigation System Professional.  These two new features strengthen BMW’s position as the leader in the area of sustainability and technology-integration in the car.

BMW ECO PRO mode actively assists economical driving.  It enables a reduction in fuel consumption depending on the driving style.  For example, it restricts the maximum output of the air conditioning system and changes the accelerator pedal sensitivity to ensure more moderate acceleration.   The control display offers ECO PRO tips on how to drive even more efficiently with moderate acceleration or maintaining constant speed. The control display can also display fuel consumption history. The feedback from this information can help the driver to further optimize the driving style. BMW ECO PRO is currently available in the new BMW 1 Series, new BMW 640i Coupe, new BMW 520i, new BMW 528i and will also be introduced in other future models.

 

BMW is the first premium brand in Indonesia to introduce a built-in BMW Navigation System Professional in almost all of its model range.  The BMW Navigation System Professional is integrated in the iDrive system and Indonesian maps and directions are now available on the high-resolution display monitor either in 3D or split screen mode.  The sensors will monitor the wheels and the steering angle and can localise the vehicles at all time, even when GPS signal is weak. The GPS receiver is mounted on the roof and the data processing as well as re-routing of direction are faster than  after-market navigation systems.

The Navigation System Professional offers an integrated DVD drive and a 12 GB hard drive for the navigation information and music.

This new feature is available starting February for the 2012 model year for specific variants of BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series, BMW 7 Series, BMW Gran Turismo, BMW X3, BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW Z4.

THE 201 2 BMW MODEL UPDATES.

The new BMW 520i and the new BMW 528i.

The new BMW 520i and 528i are two new locally-assembled models equipped with the new generation of 2-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, with TwinPower Turbo technology combining  a TwinScroll turbocharger with VALVETRONIC, Double-VANOS and High Precision Injection.  The new four-cylinder engine has been awarded  2011 Best Engine by Ward Magazine.  Both models are now available at all BMW dealers. 

The new BMW 520i is now the entry model in the 5 Series family.  The new four-cylinder engine produces 184 hp at 5,000 rpm and maximum torque of 270 Nm between 1,250 to 4,500 rpm.  The car takes 8 seconds to reach 100 km/h from a standing start with a maximum speed of 226 km/h.  The fuel consumption is extremely efficient, with 1 liter for 15.6 km, and the CO2 emission is at 149 g/km. 

The new BMW 528i with the new four-cylinder engine produces 245 hp at 5,000 rpm and an impressive torque of 350 Nm between 1,500 to 4,800 rpm.  The car takes 6.3 seconds to reach 100 km/h from a standing start with a maximum speed of 250 km/h.  The fuel consumption is 1 liter for 15.4 km, and the CO2 emission is at 149 g/km.  The new four-cylinder engine in the 528i is 20% more efficient and produces 40 Nm more torque than the previous naturally aspirated six cylinder engine.

 The fuel efficiency of  the new BMW 520i and 528i is enhanced with new BMW Efficient Dynamics technology such as Automatic Start/Stop function, Driving Experience Control with ECO PRO mode,  in addition to Electronic Power Steering with Servotronic and Brake Energy Regeneration.

Both BMW 5 Series variants will be equipped with new Comfort Rear Seats featuring comfort head-rests, contoured and softer seat materials with elegant stitches. 

The new BMW 528i will be introduced with Business and Executive variants that offers different specifications for customers to choose from.  The BMW 528i Executive offers complete features such as rear-seat entertainment, enhancing comfort amenities including TV and DVD function on two 8 inch monitors, 10.2 inch on-board monitor with TV function and 4-Zone Automatic air conditioning.

The BMW  Navigation System Professional is now introduced in the new BMW 528i Executive and Business.  Maps and directions are displayed on the high-resolution 10.2 inch display monitor either in 3D or split screen mode.  The device has a DVD drive and a hard drive for navigation and music data. 

The Navigation system also forms the basis for BMW ConnectedDrive, the intelligent system that keeps driver and vehicle connected with the outside world. It is equipped with Bluetooth interface and the BMW becomes a mobile office enabling communication by email and SMS, appointment coordination and to-do lists. All content can be shown on the Control Display or read aloud over the loudspeakers.

BMW 535i.

The BMW 535i in the 2012 model is now equipped with  integrated BMW Navigation System Professional and Comfort Access system with Smart Opener function that allows hands-free opening on the tailgate by swiping the foot under the rear bumper.

BMW 520d with BMW Advanced Diesel technology.

The BMW 520d with BMW Advanced Diesel engine will be added to the local production in February 2012.  BMW  520d is not only the first premium sedan with Advanced Diesel Engine introduced in Indonesia, but also become the first diesel premium sedan assembled in the country.

 

 

The new BMW X1 sDrive18i Business.

BMW’s compact SAV, X1 has now a new entry variant – BMW X1 sDrive18i Business in addition to BMW X1 sDrive18i Executive introduced in October 2011.  The model is powered by a 150 hp 1,995 cc four-cylinder gasoline engine featuring Valvetronic and Double VANOS.  Producing maximum torque of 200 Nm at 3,600 rpm, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.4 seconds.  Its top speed reaches 200 km/hour with an average fuel consumption of 1 liter for 11.90 km and CO2 level at 195 g/km.

 

This Business variant comes with features such as Sensatec upholstery, satin silver matt interior trim, Radio Professional soundsystem and Bluetooth interface.

 

 

 

The new BMW Z4 sDrive20i and BMW Z4 sDrive35i.

The new BMW Z4 sDrive20i is now equipped with the new generation of four-cylinder engine with TwinPower Turbo, High Precision Injection, Double VANOS and Valvetronic, the same engine used in the new BMW 520i.

The 2012 model year of BMW Z4 sDrive20i and BMW Z4 sDrive35i are both equipped with BMW Navigation System Professional.

BMW X5 xDrive30d Edition.

BMW X5   introduces a new variant in the family– BMW X5 xDrive30d Edition that features a more luxury ambience in the cabin with BMW Individual anthracite headliner, floor mate with piping Oyster, Nevada leather with contrast stitching, bamboo grain dark trim, roller sunblinds on the rear and “BMW Edition” door sills. It is also equipped with electric adjusted sport seats and sport leather steering wheel.

THE 2012  MINI MODELS UPDATE.

MINI will come with a full model range offered to Indonesia fans in 2012.  MINI Countryman, MINI Coupe, MINI Roadster will be launched in the first quarter and  MINI Countryman John Cooper Works will be introduced in the second half of 2012. 

In addition, 4 Special Editions of MINI introduced in a limited number of units worldwide will also be offered to fans in Indonesia.
