Reiterberger has double win at the SUPERBIKE*IDM at the Lausitzring – Jaillet crowned champion in France – Isaacs victorious in South Africa.

Munich, 17th September 2014. It was a weekend of great success for the customers of BMW Motorrad Motorsport. Markus Reiterberger (DE) dominated the SUPERBIKE*IDM races at the Lausitzring (DE) with his BMW S 1000 RR. In the French Superbike Championship (FSBK), Emilien Jaillet (FR) claimed a win and a second place in the European bikes class to be crowned champion, and in the South African Motorcycle Championship (SAM), Lance Isaacs (ZA) returned to winning ways with his BMW S 1000 RR.

There is no time to catch a breath with the next highlights coming up as soon as next weekend: the legendary “24 Heurs Moto” at Le Mans (FR) and the season finale of the Superbike*IDM at Hockenheim (DE). The experts from BMW Motorrad Motorsport will be on site on both occasions to support their customers. Also scheduled for the coming weekend are the next rounds of the British Superbike Championship (BSB) and the Brazilian Superbike Championship (BRSBK), as well as the season finale of the FIM Sidecar World Championship (SWC).

BMW Motorrad Race Trophy: Markus Reiterberger still in the lead, Emilien Jaillet moves up to second.

With a double win in the two SUPERBIKE*IDM races at Germany's Lausitzring (see below), Markus Reiterberger maintained his lead in the BMW Motorrad Race Trophy rankings. The young German has now 241.25 Race Trophy points to his tally, and can collect more next weekend when he will contest the final round of the series at Hockenheim.  Behind him, the French FSBK rider Emilien Jaillet has improved to second with 238.00 points. The top three are completed by his fellow countryman and FSBK rider Cyril Brunet-Lugardon, who improved from sixth to third with 208.00 points.

SUPERBIKE*IDM at the Lausitzring.

At the penultimate round of the 2014 International German Motorcycle Championship (SUPERBIKE*IDM), held at the Lausitzring (DE), Markus Reiterberger not only celebrated his long-awaited first victory of the season, but even a double win. He defied the difficult conditions with fog, drizzle and a slippery surface, being the man to beat on his BMW S 1000 RR. In race one, he fought an epic battle with series’ leader Xavi Fores, passing the Spaniard with a brilliant manoeuvre halfway through the race. From then on he managed to pull away. He crossed the line as the winner, enthusiastically cheered by his Van Zon-Remeha-BMW team and the specialists from BMW Motorrad Motorsport on the pit wall. In race two, Reiterberger was even more dominant, setting by far the fastest lap times and winning with a gap of over 11 seconds. His team-mate, Bastien Mackels (BE), also put in a strong performance and finished the races in fifth and fourth respectively. Stefan Nebel (DE) was 13th and 15th with his BMW HP4 from Wilbers BMW Racing.

Also in the Superstock class, the BMW Motorrad Motorsport Community once more had reason to celebrate. In race one, the class victory went to Lucy Glöckner (DE), who celebrated her fourth win of the season with her BMW HP4 from Wilbers BMW Racing. She finished the race in eighth overall. Dominik Vincon (DE / BMW Stilgenbauer) finished second on the Superstock podium (11th overall). In race two, it was Vincon who celebrated the class win with his RR, followed by Leon Bovee (NL / Van Zon-Remeha-BMW) in second (seventh and eighth overall). Glöckner was fourth in the Superstock class and 12th overall.

French Superbike Championship in Nogaro.

Nogaro in the south-west of France was the venue for the sixth and final round of the 2014 French Superbike Championship (FSBK). In the highest category, the Superbike class, Nicolas Pouhair (FR) finished both races in fifth on his BMW S 1000 RR.

In the class for European Bikes, the RR was once more the dominant bike. In race one, the top eight finishers were privateer BMW Motorrad riders, in race two the top four places went to BMW. Emilien Jaillet (FR) won the first race, with Cyril Brunet-Lugardon (FR) and Laurent Aymonin (FR) finishing second and third on the podium. These three also shared the podium in race two, with Aymonin winning in front of Jaillet and Brunet-Lugardon. In the final championship rankings for the European Bikes class, the top five places are occupied by BMW Motorrad riders: Jaillet was crowned champion, followed by Brunet-Lugardon, Aymonin, Michel Amalric (FR) and Madjid Idres (FR). In total, nine RR riders have finished the season within the top ten of the championship rankings. 

South African Motorcycle Championship at Zwartkops Raceway.

Round six of the 2014 South African Motorcycle Championship (SAM) took place at Zwartkops Raceway in Pretoria (ZA). It was another successful outing for Lance Isaacs (ZA) and his Black Swan Racing team. In qualifying he proved to be one of the favourites of the weekend, missing out on pole-position by only 0.1 seconds with his BMW S 1000 RR. In race one, which was held in temperatures way over 30 degrees Celsius, Isaacs crossed the line in second, with a gap of only 0.7 seconds to winner Clint Sellers (ZA). With his team mate Brent Harran (ZA) following in third, the Black Swan Racing team had its first ever double podium.

This strong result was even bettered in race two: From P2 on the grid, Isaacs immediately took the lead and pulled away from the rest of the field. He took the flag ten seconds ahead of the chasing pack, celebrating his second win of the season. On the podium he was joined by his team mate Harran, who came home in second, so completing the first ever one-two for Black Swan Racing.

In the Super M class races, Janine Davies (ZA) finished fourth and fifth respectively on her BMW S 1000 RR.

Japanese Road Race Championship at Autopolis.

The sixth of eight rounds of the 2014 Japanese Road Race Championship (MFJ) was held at Autopolis (JP) this weekend. Two privateer BMW Motorrad riders competed in the race: Daisaku Sakai (JP) finished 11th, Kohiji Teramoto (JP) crossed the line in 14th.

It is still possible to register for the 2014 BMW Motorrad Race Trophy on the website www.bmw-motorrad.de/motorsport. The deadline for registrations for the current season is not until 2nd November 2014, entry is free. Regardless of when the registrations are received, each participant will receive points for all the race events he/she has competed in since the start of the scoring period on 15th February 2014. So the ranking can also continuously change as new participants are added.
