Gwangju/Munich. The 6th BMW Ladies Championship at
Pine Beach Golf Links came to a thrilling conclusion. It was only with
the very last putt that it became clear that Yuri Yoshida would be
celebrating her first title on the LPGA Tour. Although the Japanese
player carded a bogey on the final hole, her closest rival, Haeran Ryu
(KOR) – who had been leading after the third round – also dropped a
shot on the 18th, meaning Yoshida finished one stroke clear. The
26-year-old won with a total score of 271 strokes (17 under par),
ahead of four South Korean players: Ryu shared second place with
Hye-Jin Choi (both 272, -16). Hyo Joo Kim and Minsol Kim (both 273,
-15) finished in joint fourth place.
Yoshida, who was four strokes behind Ryu at the start of the final round, laid the foundations for her victory in the tournament organised by BMW Korea with a flying start. She followed up an eagle on the second hole with three birdies shortly afterwards and took a narrow lead, which she never relinquished. Ryu, who had shone in the first three rounds with rounds of 67, 64 and 68, failed to find the same rhythm on Sunday and, in challenging and rainy conditions, carded a round of 73 (1 over par), which meant she had to concede victory to Yoshida.
Andrea Lee produced the shot of the tournament as early as the second round. The American, who has South Korean roots, scored an ace on the 8th hole (par 3). From 122 yards the 28-year-old holed out with a 9-iron and was rewarded with a Hole-in-One Award: Lee was clearly delighted with her new all-electric MINI Countryman SE ALL4, which she described as “very cute”. The other two all-electric hole-in-one cars – a BMW i7 on the 13th and a BMW iX3 on the 15th hole – did not find new owners.
Lee is the fifth player in the history of the BMW Ladies Championship to win a car. The first to do so was Kristen Gillman during the inaugural event in 2019. The American hit the first ace of her professional career to win a BMW 740Li xDrive. At the 2022 BMW Ladies Championship, fans celebrated two Hole-in-One Awards being won on the same day: Na Yeon Choi from South Korea won a BMW X7 xDrive40i, while Thailand’s Ariya Jutanugarn headed home with a BMW 740i. Last year, Lucy Li from the USA won a BMW i7 eDrive50 in the opening round.
Quotes from the 6th BMW Ladies Championship.
Sangyun Han, Director and President of BMW Group Korea: “On behalf of BMW I would like to congratulate Yuri Yoshida on winning the 2026 BMW Ladies Championship. It was a challenging task to overcome a world-class field, but Yuri demonstrated skill and dedication in an impressive fashion. It has been a thrilling week, and I would like to thank everyone at Pine Beach Golf Links. They have been wonderful hosts for the last two editions. Thank you also to all the tournament partners, supporters, volunteers, fans and everyone involved for contributing to this prestigious golf event.”
Yuri Yoshida: “Winning the BMW Ladies Championship is a dream come true. I’m delighted to have won this prestigious tournament and I want to carry the momentum from my first LPGA title forward. I can’t wait to be back competing next week.”
Andrea Lee: “The ace honestly came when I least expected it. I wasn’t even looking at the car. I just wanted to hit a good shot, and somehow it went in. My caddie and I were torn between a 9-iron and a pitching wedge – luckily we made the right choice. I love my new MINI, it’s very cute.”
