Dakar Rally 2020 – Carlos Sainz wins the Dakar for the third time and presents MINI with its fifth overall victory.

Carlos Sainz (ESP) and his co-driver Lucas Cruz (ESP) have won the Rally Dakar for the third time, having previously triumphed in 2010 and 2018. In doing so, they presented MINI with its fifth overall victory at the iconic endurance rally. For MINI and MINI Motorsport partner X-raid, this was the first success since their winning run together, which lasted from 2012 to 2015.

The driver line-up for this season’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, which begins in January, has been finalised. As they did last season, John Edwards (USA) and Jesse Krohn (FIN) will share the cockpit of the #24 BMW M8 GTE run by BMW Team RLL. In the team’s second car, the #25 BMW M8 GTE, Bruno Spengler (CAN) will contest the full season in the IMSA series. The Canadian will form a North American duo with Connor De Phillippi (USA).

Bruno Spengler switches from the DTM to the North American IMSA series in 2020.

Bruno Spengler (CAN) will swap the BMW M4 DTM for a BMW M8 GTE next season, when he will race in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. This move sees Spengler bring the curtain down on a dazzling DTM career, which has spanned 15 years and 195 races and produced a host of highlights. The Canadian’s greatest success came in 2012, when he won the Drivers’ Championship in the BMW Bank M3 DTM.

Markus Reiterberger to ride the BMW S 1000 RR in the Asia Road Racing Championship in 2020.

CO2 emission information.

The following applies to consumption figures for vehicles with new type approval, September 2017 onward: The figures for fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and energy consumption are obtained in accordance with the specified measuring procedure (EC Regulation No. 715/2007), as issued and amended. The figures are for a basic-version vehicle in Germany. The bandwidths allow for differences in the choice of wheel and tire sizes and items of optional equipment and can be changed by the configuration.

Obtained on the basis of the new "Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedure" (WLTP), the figures are converted back to the "New European Driving Cycle" (NEDC) for the sake of comparability. Values other than those stated here may be used for the purposes of taxation and for other vehicle-related duties relating to CO2 emissions.
