Sensational for All Your Senses: The BMW Z4 Roadster 2.0i - Making a New
Entry to that Genuine Roadster Experience Munich. Starting in April
2005, BMW is expanding its successful roadster model series, the
four-cylinder 110 kW/150 bhp Z4 Roadster 2.0i marking the new entry
level into this world of pure driving pleasure. With almost the same
dynamic performance as its more powerful brothers, the Z4 Roadster 2.0i
accelerates from 0 - 100 km/h in just 8.2 seconds. Top speed, in turn,
is an equally impressive 220 km/h or 136 mph. Powerful torque of 200 Nm
or 147 lb-ft at 3600 rpm ensures appropriate flexibility, the Z4
Roadster 2.0i accelerating from 80 - 120 km/h (50 - 75 mph) in just 8.2
seconds. The engine - high-tech like BMW's six-cylinders Although the
new model is powered by four instead of six cylinders, the engine comes
with all the features so typical of BMW: Fully variable valve drive with
infinite adjustment of the intake and outlet camshafts (VANOS) as well
as VALVETRONIC ensure perfect responsiveness and a harmonious balance
of power. Superior refinement, in turn, is guaranteed by two balance
shafts. The smooth and crisp six-speed gearbox conveys all the power of
the engine to the 205/55 R16 rear wheels. And in the process the
sporting but unpretentious sound of the engine bears clear testimony to
every gear shift and every movement of the gas pedal. All the
ingredients for an authentic driving experience The Z4 Roadster 2.0i
also ranks equal to its agile brothers in terms of handling: Featuring
elaborate axle kinematics, a seating position moved far to the rear,
and an extremely low centre of gravity, the new model has all the
ingredients already boasted by its more powerful counterparts in the
interest of supreme driving pleasure. The spacious, re-accentuated
interior, together with the authentic soft roof and the cockpit reduced
to the most important controls and instruments, together with
sports-contoured seats and the leather steering wheel, serve to create
perfect harmony of man and machine. This is roadster motoring in its
most straightforward and natural form. EuroNCAP Best-in-Class Award
for the Z4 Roadster The BMW Z4 Roadster stands out not only through its
dynamic driving qualities: In the 2004 Euro-NCAP test this unique car
achieved the best results ever measured with dummies in a roadster,
thus receiving the EuroNCAP Best-in-Class Award. This is simply because
the torsionally resistant body structure of this open two-seater
protects the occupants better than in all other cars ever tested in
this class. Indeed, the Z4 Roadster, even without a firm roof, keeps
the forces acting on the occupants in the event of a collision lower
than in most modern cars with a fixed roof. Runflat tyres and a tyre
defect indicator, BMW's two-stage Brake Force Display, DSC Dynamic
Stability Control with DBC Dynamic Brake Control, as well as CBC
Cornering Brake Control, all help to avoid critical situations right
from the start. 100,000 Z4 Roadsters delivered to customers to far
Following introduction of the BMW Z4 Roadster in late 2001, some 100,000
units of this model series built at the BMW Group's Plant in
Spartanburg, USA, have been delivered to customers so far. What makes
this even more remarkable is that these are all models with prestigious
2.2, 2.5, and 3.0-litre six-cylinder power units developing engine
output of 125, 141, and, respectively, 170 kW (170,192, and,
respectively, 231 bhp). Now the Z4 Roadster 2.0i has everything it
takes to continue this story of success, contributing to the ongoing
profitability of this outstanding model series. The new model will be
making its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2005.
Production is starting in April and the first models will be delivered
to customers in Europe and Asia in mid-May.

CO2 emission information.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption and range were measured using the methods required according to Regulation VO (EC) 2007/715 as amended. They refer to vehicles on the German automotive market. For ranges, the NEDC figures take into account differences in the selected wheel and tyre size, while the WLTP figures take into account the effects of any optional equipment.

All figures have already been calculated based on the new WLTP test cycle. NEDC figures listed have been adjusted to the NEDC measurement method where applicable. WLTP values are used as a basis for the assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related duties which are (also) based on CO2 emissions and, where applicable, for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies. Further information are available at www.bmw.de/wltp and at www.dat.de/co2/.
