Munich, 30 November 2007. The president of the German Association
of the Automotive Industry (VDA) took delivery of a model of future
mobility in Munich today. In the "BMW Welt" Matthias Wissmann
received the key to his personal BMW Hydrogen 7. This is the world's
first sedan with a hydrogen combustion engine and is regarded as a
piece of pioneering technology. It has successfully completed the
series development process and combines the new technology with BMW's
typical dynamics, driving experience and comfort. "When it comes
to the continuing development of existing powertrains and the
development of new ones, the German vehicle manufacturers are right at
the cutting edge and worldwide drivers of innovation. BMW's hydrogen
technology is a fine example of the potentials in our industry and of
the ability to turn ideas into marketable products. Our engineers'
creativity and inventiveness ensure mobility in the long term and
re-invent the car again and again," said Wissmann as he received
the BMW Hydrogen 7 in Munich. Mr. Wissmann is now one of several
leading personalities from the areas of politics, business and society
- including Günter Verheugen, Vice President of the European
Commission, the German economics minister Michael Glos and the German
transport minister Wolfgang Tiefensee - who have received a BMW Hydrogen
7 this year. The BMW Hydrogen 7 was presented by Stefan Krause, member
of the board of management at BMW AG for sales and marketing. He says,
"We are delighted that the president of the VDA has decided on the
BMW Hydrogen 7. It is a signal indicating the way towards the
individual mobility of the future, because only with competent and
credible partners can we realize sustainable mobility based on
hydrogen." The BMW Group is a pioneer consistently driving
hydrogen technology forward. For more than two decades the company has
been working intensively on sustainable mobility. Initially one series
of 100 BMW Hydrogen 7s was produced. In the long term gasoline is be
replaced as fuel by renewably produced hydrogen. Images and articles
