BMW signs the biggest-ever contract for police patrol vehicles in the
Middle East. The Kuwaiti Police have become the latest police force
in the region to use BMW 5-series saloons for their police patrol cars.
Ali Alghanim and Sons Automotive Co., the exclusive importer of BMW cars
in Kuwait, have just signed a contract with the Kuwaiti Police to
supply them with a fleet of 170 high-performance 540i saloons, the
biggest-ever single order of BMW police cars in the region, to date.
Marzouk Alghanim, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Ali Alghanim
& Sons Automotive Co., said, "We are proud to be associated
with Kuwait police as it reaffirms the fact that BMW cars meet the
demanding requirements of the force." Robert Bailey-McEwan,
Managing Director of BMW Group Middle East, said, "This is an
important accomplishment for us as it proves both the reliability and
durability of our products. Powered by BMW V8 engine producing 286
horsepower, the 540i is unparalleled on performance, fuel economy and
driving comfort." A high ranking Kuwait Police official said,
"We chose BMW because it combined state-of the-art-technology and
controlled operating costs throughout the vehicle's lifecycle. That is
the balance we wanted to achieve." BMW Group products are built
under stringent quality measures and conform to the highest levels of
engineering excellence. Moreover, the cars run on a rigorous service
and after sales program, therefore, reducing the cost of ownership over
time. BMW Group has a worldwide track record of cooperating with
police forces in various countries. In the Middle East, BMW Group
succeeded in closing deals with police forces in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and
Jordan, who are currently using BMWs in their fleets. Mc-Ewan added,
"We are establishing a strong reputation among police forces in
the region as elsewhere in the world and this simply demonstrates the
quality and longevity of BMW cars." - Ends -

CO2 emission information.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption and range were measured using the methods required according to Regulation VO (EC) 2007/715 as amended. They refer to vehicles on the German automotive market. For ranges, the NEDC figures take into account differences in the selected wheel and tyre size, while the WLTP figures take into account the effects of any optional equipment.

All figures have already been calculated based on the new WLTP test cycle. NEDC figures listed have been adjusted to the NEDC measurement method where applicable. WLTP values are used as a basis for the assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related duties which are (also) based on CO2 emissions and, where applicable, for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies. Further information are available at www.bmw.de/wltp and at www.dat.de/co2/.
