The new R 1200 GS Since BMW launched the first of the GS models almost
a quarter of a century ago, there are few corners of the planet where
GS tire tracks cannot be found. Here in the Middle East, the region's
first BMW Enduro Academy based on the U.A.E. Oman border, and using the
BMW GS motorcycles has just wound up its first season of operation.
The GS is without doubt the number one choice for long distance riders
and circumnavigators of the globe, and despite a host of imitators, has
evolved as the definitive Enduro on and off road machine. Loved by
road and dirt bike riders in equal measure, the R1150GS was launched in
1999 and has become BMW Motorrad's best selling model, justly boasting
its status as a hard act to follow. Enter the all-new R1200 GS. It
delivers an 11% weight reduction coupled with 15% more horsepower. It's
the all purpose bike that can take you to the edge of the world - the
bike that will change your concept of motorcycling - the bike that will
tackle anything from commuting to work, track days at one the Middle
East?s three new race tracks, and with some modifications, why not the
U.A.E. Desert Challenge or the Rally of Egypt. The official Middle
East launch will take place in Dubai to reflect the level of interest
in the Emirate for BMW GS models, and as the home of the BMW Enduro
Academy. Featuring at the launch will also be the R1150 GS Adventure,
which remains in the 2004 model range and beyond, remaining the
definitive bike for serious long-distance riding on and off-road. While
the facelift 2004 Model F650GS Dakar will also feature. Customers can
