AGMC, the exclusive BMW Group importer in Dubai, Sharjah and the
Northern Emirates, announced the arrival of the new BMW R1200 GS
motorcycle at a special event today. The event was held at Seville's,
Wafi City and was attended by riders of all makes and models, embodying
the family spirit of the Dubai motorcycle riding community. The new
R1200 GS is highly advanced in every respect. In its overall design and
look, the R1200 GS stands for dynamism, agility and lightness, combined
with the robustness typical of an on and off road Enduro. "AGMC
is proud to introduce a motorcycle of such calibre to the market. The GS
models are the corner stone of our motorcycle offering, and we lead all
competitors in the Enduro segment. Our aim is to provide the most
technologically advanced and emotionally uplifting motorcycles to meet
the demanding requirements of our customers. Riders who switch to BMW
refuse to compromise on the safety, quality and performance offered by
us. Our products exceed expectations," said Stathis I. Stathis,
General Manager, AGMC. "Biking enthusiasts can be sure to enjoy
the new R1200GS or any other of our GS motorcycles. Our commitment to
the GS category is embodied in the AGMC BMW Motorrad Enduro Academy
opened earlier this year, offering two-day training programs at the
base of the Hatta mountains. The next training batch will be held
between November 4th and March 5th on a bi-weekly basis." In its
design and structure, the newly developed flat-twin power unit of the
R1200 GS follows the same standards as BMW's former, 1130 cc engine.
This is the biggest engine ever seen in an Enduro, and brings a new
slimmer profile to the distinctive BMW Boxer appearance. The increase
in cubic capacity to 1170 cc provides the foundation for a higher power
output of 100bhp, and muscular torque throughout a speed range wider
than before. The result is superior power under all conditions and
situations. The R1200 GS continues all the traditional features
characteristic of BMW motorcycles. High-performance brakes together
with BMW's unique motorcycle Integral ABS (Adaptive Brake System)
guarantee supreme safety particularly in critical situations. In
addition, the R1200 GS incorporates a maintenance-free driveshaft and
new helical gears, avoiding the need for unpleasant and time-consuming
service particularly on long trips. The bike weighs a mere 199 kg, 30
kg less than its predecessor (the R1150 GS) ensured by robust
light-weight construction and the use of high-strength materials.
Added features include dual ignition, fully sequential fuel injection,
luggage rack and removable passenger seat, ergonomic handlebar and
handle design, quiet exhaust system, high-strength cast light-alloy
wheels or BMW's unique cross-spoke wheels available as a an option and
a wide range of equipment and tailor made accessories. "On all
fronts, we believe that the new BMW R1200 GS offers an unprecedented
range of features and unparalleled riding pleasure, and we are looking
forward to a successful launch," said Stathis.
