BMW Power Victorious at Road Atlanta; Wins in Rolex DP and Continental ST classes

Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – April 21, 2013 . . . Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates drivers Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas were back on the top step of the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series podium with a win in Saturday’s Visual Studio Ultimate Grand Prix of Atlanta, held at Road Atlanta, in Braselton, Ga. The experienced pair combined to lead 94 of the 120 laps on the 2.54-mile circuit in the No. 01 TELMEX BMW Riley for their second win of the season and increase their lead in driver points as they race for a fourth consecutive Daytona Prototype Driver title.

The No. 43 and 42 BMW Rileys of Team Sahlen finished 11th and 13th respectively. In the GT class Turner Motorsport drivers Paul Dalla Lana and Billy Johnson (substituting for Bill Auberlen) finished 7th in the No. 94 M3.

Earlier in the day, BMW won the Street Tuner class of the Continental Sports Car Challenge PWC 250 at Road Atlanta, finishing 1-2 to keep the marque at the top of the ST Manufacturer point standings. It was Terry Borcheller and Mike LaMarra first at the checkered flag in the No. 23 Burton Racing BMW 128i followed by Greg Strelzoff and Connor Bloum in the No. 80 BimmerWorld Racing BMW 328. In the Grand Sport class, Fall-Line Motorsports drivers Al Carter and Hugh Plumb raced the No. 45 BMW M3 to an eighth place finish.

The race will be televised on SPEED on Saturday, April 27 at 2 p.m. ET.

We saw last year how important every championship point is. Our hats are off to Burton Racing for their first Continental win. We knew it would not be long to see them on top of the podium. With the BMW Team RLL 1-2 at Long Beach this weekend, BMW won in every major sport car race in North America.”
