Test furtunos în Portugalia: BMW Motorsport continuă pregătirile din presezonul DTM

Bucureşti/Estoril, 30 martie 2015. Toţi cei opt piloţi BMW au fost în acţiune de-a lungul celor trei zile de teste desfăşurate pe "Circuito do Estoril” (Portugalia), unde şi-au continuat munca de pregătire a modelelor BMW M4 DTM şi s-au pregătit pentru noul format de cursă ce va fi introdus în sezonul 2015 din DTM.

Condiţiile meteo au jucat un rol important pe circuitul în lungime de 4,182 kilometri: rafale puternice au afectat testele, în special în prima zi. Joi, în cea de-a doua zi a testelor, averse izolate au afectat şi ele programul celor patru echipe BMW DTM. În ciuda acestor incidente, a fost posibil ca echipele şi piloţii să acumuleze informaţii preţioase cu privire la noul sezon.

Cel mai bun timp al piloţilor BMW a fost stabilit în ultima zi de António Félix da Costa (Portugalia): pilotul BMW Team Schnitzer a parcursul turul pe legendarul circuit portughez în 1:32,852. Per total, cel mai rapid la Estoril a fost elveţianul Nico Müller (Audi), care a reuşi un timp de 1:32,443.

Ultimul test, înainte ca DTM să înceapă la 2-3 mai, va avea loc în Germania: în perioada 14-16 aprilie, cei opt piloţi BMW şi adversarii lor vor evolua pe Motorsport Arena din Oschersleben (Germania).

Declaraţii ale piloţilor BMW DTM după testul de la Estoril:

Marco Wittmann: Chiar dacă este o provocare să obţii rezultate semnificative în condiţii atât de fluctuante, am parcurs un program amplu şi am acumulat multe informaţii. Noul program al week-endurilor de cursă joacă un rol important. Am încercat diferite variante în această privinţă.

Maxime Martin: Vântul a făcut situaţia foarte dificilă în prima zi. Condiţii precum acestea nu fac viaţa uşoară. Vineri a fost mult mai plăcut. Cu toate acestea, am avut un test productiv. Am putut să încercăm diferite abordări. Aştept cu nerăbdare următorul teste, cel de la Oschersleben - şi, desigur, startul sezonului în mai.

Martin Tomczyk: Vântul ne-a creat ceva probleme, astfel că nu am putut avea condiţii constante. Aceste lucru nu îţi este de ajutor în perioada testelor. Situaţia a fost mai bună joi, după care a început să plouă puţin. Te-ai fi aşteptat la alte condiţii meteo în Portugalia, dar aceasta este viaţa. António Félix da Costa: Chiar mi-a plăcut să mă aflu pe circuitul meu de casă de la Estoril. Sunt mândru că DTM a ales acest circuit pentru teste. De-a lungul ultimei zile am găsit răspunsuri la câteva probleme cu care ne confruntam - iar acest lucru este unul bun. Cooperarea cu BMW Team Schnitzer se derulează foarte bine. Toţi din noua mea echipă m-au făcut să mă simt binevenit.

Augusto Farfus: Nu a fost foarte uşor cu acel vânt, dar condiţiile au fost aceleaşi pentru toată lumea. Nu am petrecut foarte mult timp la volanul modelului lui DTM, aşa că testul a fost distractiv. Am făcut progrese, dar încă mai avem mult de muncă înainte de startul sezonului. Concluzia după Estoril este una pozitivă: am parcurs fiecare punct după lista pe care ne-am propus-o pentru acest test.

Tom Blomqvist: Echilibrul maşinilor noastre este departe de cel ideal, dar am reuşit să-l îmbunătăţim mult de-a lungul celor trei zile. A fost un circuit nou pentru mine, dar m-am adaptat foarte repede. În general, a fost o alegere inspirată să aştept şi să pilotez abia în ultima zi, pe soare. Cu toate acestea, vântul s-a înteţit din nou în cursul după-amiezei.

Bruno Spengler: Categoric, condiţiile au fost departe de a fi perfecte, dar, per total, au fost zile pozitive pentru noi. În această etapă, timpii pe tur nu sunt decisivi. Nu se acordă puncte până la Hockenheim. Acum, important este să-ţi completezi programul şi să înveţi cât mai mult posibil. Am reuşit toate aceste lucruri, în ciuda condiţiilor dificile de la Estoril.

Timo Glock: Pentru mine, aceasta a fost prima apariţie la Estoril - şi-mi place circuitul. Fără îndoială, este unul special. Ne-am chinuit puţin la început, dar a urmat o îmbunătăţire constantă. Am făcut noi paşi spre începutul de sezon.

Estoril (PT), 27th March 2015. All eight BMW drivers were in action over the course of the three-day test at the “Circuito do Estoril” (PT) from Wednesday to Friday, where they continued to work on the set-up of the BMW M4 DTM and to prepare for the new race format introduced for the 2015 DTM season.

The weather conditions played a major role at the 4.182-kilometre circuit: some strong gusts hindered testing, particularly on day one. Isolated showers also affected the programme for the four BMW DTM teams on Thursday. Despite this, it was still possible to gain valuable information with regard to the new season.

The best time of all the BMW drivers was set on Friday by António Félix da Costa (PT): the BMW Team Schnitzer driver completed his lap of the iconic Portuguese racetrack in a time of 1:32.852 minutes. The fastest man overall in Estoril was Audi’s Nico Müller (CH) who clocked a time of 1:32.443 minutes.

The final test before the DTM kicks off on 2nd/3rd May will take place in Germany: from 14th to 16th April the eight BMW drivers and their rivals will take to the track at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben” (DE).

Marco Wittmann: “Although it is a challenge to achieve meaningful results in such fluctuating conditions, we got through an extensive programme and will take a lot away with us. The new itinerary for race weekends played a key role. We tried out a lot of things in this regard.”

Maxime Martin: “The wind made it very difficult on the first day. Conditions like that do not make life easy. Friday was then more pleasant. Despite this, we still had a productive test. We were able to try out a lot of different things. I am already looking forward to the next tests in Oschersleben – and the start of the season in May, of course.”

Martin Tomczyk: “The wind hampered us a bit at first, because we simply did not have consistent conditions. That does not exactly help when you are testing. The wind was better on Thursday, but then it started to rain a bit. You would expect different conditions in Portugal, but that is life. We still took some steps in the right direction. We will build on that in Oschersleben.”

António Félix da Costa: “I really enjoyed myself at my home circuit in Estoril. I am proud that the DTM selected this track for the test. We found the answers to some open issues over the course of the Friday – and that is always good. The cooperation with BMW Team Schnitzer is going very well. Everyone in my new team has made me feel very welcome.”

Augusto Farfus: “It really was not easy with that wind, but the conditions were the same for everyone. I had not spent a great deal of time at the wheel of my DTM car, so the test was great fun. We made progress, but still have a lot of work ahead of us before the start of the season. The conclusion after Estoril is definitely a positive one: we completed every point on our list of things to test.”

Tom Blomqvist: “The balance of our car was still not ideal on Friday evening, but we were able to improve that over the course of the day. It was a new track to me, but I soon found my feet. Generally speaking, it was helpful for me to have to wait to drive in the sunshine on the final day of testing. However, the wind picked up again in the afternoon.”

Bruno Spengler: “The conditions were obviously not perfect, but, on the whole, they were still positive days for us. During this phase, the lap times are not decisive. There are no points up for grabs until Hockenheim. The key now is to complete your programme and learn as much as possible. We managed to do that, despite the challenging conditions in Estoril.”

Timo Glock: “That was my first time here in Estoril – and I like the circuit. It is definitely special. We struggled a bit at first on Friday, but then we improved steadily. We have taken another step towards the start of the season.”
