Through its extroverted design alone, the K 1200 R marks a new
approach far beyond the conventional. Following the quantum leap in
all areas borne out by the K 1200 S, the K 1200 R is now adding
further emotions to the
BMW motorcycle range. Combining the
thrill of high technology and superior power and performance with a
unique touch of purism and “naked”
technology clearly visible
from every angle, the new K 1200 R is truly unique – a typical
product of BMW Motorrad in every respect.
As you may rightly expect of BMW Motorrad, however, the
focus with the
K 1200 R, as with all other BMW motorcycles, is
not on a short-lived “show-off” effect. Rather, like all motorcycles
with the white-and-blue logo, the
objective is to give the
rider useful added value provided by future-oriented technologies.
This philosophy is rounded off, as usual, by a truly perfect
range of options and accessories enhancing the practical value
of this powerful Roadster.
Optimum environmental compatibility ensured by ultra-modern exhaust gas management incorporating a fully controlled three-way catalytic converter, as well as supreme active safety provided by BMW’s advanced Integral ABS in conjunction with the high-performance brake system are further, cutting-edge features of this unique BMW – features, naturally, to be found on all other models.
Market launch is scheduled for summer 2005. To
underline the sporting quailties of the new K 1200 R, a
professional racing series will be starting in May of this year with
a racing machine based on the K 1200 R and all its technical
features. Just like the successful BoxerCup, this brand trophy will
be held on the
racing weekends of the MotoGP, thus ensuring
maximum awareness and exactly the right setting appropriate for this
high-tech motorcycle and, indeed,
the BMW Motorrad brand as a whole.
