Midrand – Normal. Who wants to be it? Normal is typical. It’s average. Normal is boring. Normal is drab. Every day is an opportunity to be normal. To queue for a treadmill at gym. To hit the snooze button. To prepare a sensible meal.

MINI and its brand ambassadors are NOT NORMAL. This is the mindset that has guided the design and ethos of the MINI brand for over 50 years. It’s the hardnosed philosophy that connects it to the people who drive MINI today.

In a world where so many are clambering to simply fit in, MINI extends an open invitation to those who can’t help but fit out. Five days of leisure in a MINI themed room located at the Klaus K Hotel, Finland, are available to anyone daring enough to capture their very own NOT NORMAL moment and share it on Twitter or Facebook.

Why Helsinki?

Phonetically, Helsinki is fun to pronounce. It is a city where women outnumber men and rabbits outnumber human beings. Established almost five hundred years ago – which makes this bustling metropolis much older than the nation of South Africa, Helsinki is dotted with historical landmarks and a twelve-seat mobile karaoke taxi. Who could ask for more?

Need a little inspiration?

Enter Goldfish. Long time friends of MINI who could have been classical musicians. Normal! After completing their Masters degrees in music at the University of Cape Town the world expected Dominic and David to join an orchestra, to fade into the background. Instead they decided to reinvent dance music and blow minds for a living. That is NOT NORMAL.

Let us not forget DJ Fresh. If things had turned out the way he’d expected Fresh would be a fighter pilot patrolling the skies at Mach 3. Normal! Instead, he put that silky smooth voice to better use and entered the world of broadcast radio. Today he sits at the controls of two entirely different kinds of vehicles – South Africa’s most popular drive show and a MINI Cooper S Paceman.

William Rupert Mellor (Seth Rotherham) makes his living by being on holiday 24/7. Founder and CEO of 2OceansVibe, Will pays his staff of twenty in alcohol and believes that sneezing is a sign of weakness. NOT NORMAL, right?

DJ Euphonik had a taste of normal and decided to take the road less travelled. After spending a few years working towards an accounting degree he woke up in a cold sweat, gasping for air, and decided to become South Africa’s most popular party starter. Today he is just that: magnificently, gratifyingly, charmingly NOT NORMAL.

And you can be too. MINI wants to revel in your NOT NORMAL moments. To share the feeling of joy as you break the shackles of a mundane society that expects you to fit in, to grow up and to join the herd.

The prize also includes return flights from anywhere in South Africa, visa costs, spending money and a MINI Countryman to drive during your stay.

Using the #MyMININotNormal hashtag on Twitter, South African fans and followers of the brand are encouraged to take part in this exciting promotion which kicked-off at the beginning of August.

Remember, all entries must include the sentence ‘I’ve entered the #MyMININotNormalCompetition’ and include a link to the special moment. Participants on Facebook are encouraged to set their image to ‘Public’, because wild adventures shouldn’t be kept under wraps.
