BTCC: Tordoff wins – Priaulx on the
podium.
Successful weekend for BMW at the British
Touring Car Championship’s (BTCC) appearance in Oulton Park (GB). Andy
Priaulx (GB) first of all secured third place in qualifying. Then in
the first race, at the wheel of his BMW 125i M Sport in action for
West Surrey Racing, Priaulx crossed the finish line in the same
position and then celebrated on the podium. In the second race of the
weekend, Priaulx finished 15th before retiring in round three. His
team-mate Sam Tordoff (GB) delivered a stunning performance in the
third race, crossing the line first after 15 laps. In the previous
races he had finished ninth and fifth. Rob Collard (GB) finished in
13th, 25th and 14th. The next round of the BTCC season takes place in
three weeks time with three races in Croft (GB).
Blancpain Sprint Series: Podium finish for BMW Sports Trophy
Team Brasil.
BMW Sports Trophy Team Brasil was in
action in the third event of the Blancpain Sprint Series with its two
BMW Z4GT3s at the weekend. In Zolder (NL), the Brazilian team secured
fifth and seventh places in the qualifying race on Saturday. In the
main race on Sunday, Atila Abreu (BR) and Valdeno Brito Filho (BR) in
the number 77 car finished in third to make it onto the podium. Their
team-mates Caca Bueno (BR) and Sergio Jimenez (BR) finished a strong fourth.
ADAC GT Masters: Difficult weekend in
Spielberg.
For the second race weekend of the year, the
ADAC GT Masters visited the “Red Bull Ring” in Spielberg (AT). BMW
Sports Trophy Team Schubert fielded two BMW Z4 GT3s in the two races,
while Senkyr Motorsport was represented by one car in Austria. In the
first race on Saturday, only Claudia Hürtgen (DE) and Uwe Alzen (DE)
made it to the finish line in eighth for the Schubert team. In the
second race on Sunday, Hürtgen and Alzen in ninth were once again the
best-placed BMW driver combination. Their team-mates Dominik Baumann
(AT) and Jens Klingmann (DE) retired again, as happened in the first
race, Jakub Knoll (CZ) and Lennart Marioneck (DE) crossed the line in
14th for Senkyr Motorsport.
BMW M235i Racing Cup Belgium: Victory for Schrey and Mies.
The first season of the BMW M235i Racing Cup Belgium entered the
next round on Sunday with a three-hour race at “Circuit Park
Zandvoort” (NL). Close to the North Sea beach, a total of nine cars
took to the track sharing the card with the fourth race of the Belgian
Gentlemen Driver’s Club (BGDC). After 82 laps, the win went to Michael
Schrey (DE) and Alexander Mies (DE) in the number 315 BMW M235i
Racing. Second place went to Fred Bouvy (BE) and David Dermont (BE).
Marc Dreszer (BE) and Stéphane Kox (NL) followed in third.
French GT Tour: Strong Spa performance by Boutsen Ginion
Racing.
The “Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps” proved
successful for the Boutsen Ginion Racing team at the third event of
the GT TOUR FFSA season: Karim Ojjeh (SA) and Olivier Grotz (LU) took
turns behind the wheel of the number 15 BMW Z4 GT3, celebrated the win
in the Gentlemen Challenge in the first race, and finished tenth in
the overall standings. The duo also topped the Gentlemen’s standings
in the second race and achieved a convincing sixth place in the
overall classification.
FIA Formula E: Action-packed appearance in
Moscow.
The first season of the FIA Formula E
Championship is on the finishing straight: The penultimate event of
the year took place at the weekend against the impressive backdrop of
the Kremlin in the Russian capital of Moscow. On site: the BMW i8
Safety Car and the BMW i3 Medical Car. BMW is the “Official Vehicle
Partner” of the innovative race series for electrically powered
formula cars. The win at the first Moscow ePrix went to Nelson Piquet
Jr. (BR), which saw him extend his lead in the overall standings. BMW
DTM driver António Félix da Costa (PT) also delivered a strong
performance and finished in seventh. The grand finale of the FIA
Formula E Championship is scheduled for 27th/28th June 2015 in London (GB).
