BMW today announced that a special Mini concept vehicle for the new millennium
will be included in the Different Roads: Automobiles for the Next Century
exhibition at The Museum of Modern Art, New York, July 22 - September 21. The
concept Mini, badged "Mini Millennium Concept", is meant to provide a look
forward into the new century, yet also evoke the Mini's sporty past. This will
be the Mini concept car's first showing in North America.

The "Mini Millennium Concept" was created by a joint Rover/BMW design team.
It was designed to encapsulate the spirit of Mini heritage in a contemporary
style. While this is not the actual production Mini for the next Millennium,
it is indicative of the concept the new Mini will embody.

The "Mini Millennium Concept" chassis is based on the mid-engined MGF (sold in
Japan and Europe) using its 1.8-liter double overhead camshaft, 16-valve
engine. The round body section and the dome-shaped roof give the car visual
and structural strength. The bodyshell is manufactured from hand-crafted
aluminum panels. The position of the wheels at the extreme corners of the car
gives the car a spacious interior and sporty dynamic character. What this
concept car illustrates most though is that for the BMW Group every car, no
matter how small, has to evoke emotions - has to be an object of desire.

"We're extremely gratified that The Museum of Modern Art chose to include the
Mini as an example of the next generation of the people's car," commented Tom
Purves, chairman of BMW in the US. "You cannot help but smile at the Mini's
cheeky looks - it is chic, exclusive and fun - factors that have made Mini the
world renowned brand that it is today. This spirit will live on in the next
millennium's Mini."

BMW of North America, Inc. was established in 1975, at which point the company
assumed marketing and distribution responsibilities for BMW automobiles in the
U.S. from the previous private distributor. Motorcycle marketing and
distribution were added in 1980. Since then the company's North American
operations have grown to include marketing, sales and financial-services
organizations in the United States and Canada. BMW is represented in North
America through a network of BMW Centers in the U.S. and Canada, including more
than 375 for automobiles and 190 for motorcycles. BMW (US) Holding Corp., the
BMW group's North, Central and South American headquarters, is located in
Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey.
