FESTIVE CLOSING CEREMONIES INCORPORATE BMW HYDROGEN VEHICLE

WOODCLIFF LAKE, NEW JERSEY, OCTOBER 31, 2001...Breast cancer survivors, friends
and family rallied at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California
as the striking 20 car fleet of specially decorated BMWs arrived at the Museum,
marking the end of their cross-country journey in the fifth year of the
Ultimate Drive for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Throughout the six-month Ultimate Drive program - a grassroots fundraising
effort that stretches coast to coast - BMW centers in more than 200 cities
hosted day-long test-driving events that allowed area residents and their loved
ones to raise money for breast cancer research, education, screening and
treatment. For every mile driven, BMW donated $1 to the Susan G. Komen Breast
Cancer Foundation, the nation's largest private funder of breast cancer
research. In each community, a special presentation was conducted to recognize
a local "Hero" for his or her outstanding work to help fight against breast
cancer. A photograph of each "Hero," along with their signature, was affixed
to a special BMW "signature car," which then became a moving symbol of the
program's goals.

On Wednesday, 20 gleaming BMWs drove into the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los
Angeles. At the Museum, Jim McDowell, Vice President Marketing, BMW of North
America presented a check for $1 million to Linda Kay Peterson, Chairman of the
Board, the Komen Foundation.

For the first time, a hydrogen-powered 750iL has taken part in the Ultimate
Drive program. Fresh from a five-country tour, BMW introduced its Hydrogen
Powered vehicles in Los Angeles this past summer as part of a comprehensive
CleanEnergy World Tour. This vehicle, the culmination of 30 years of research,
symbolizes BMW's commitment to making hydrogen power and environmental
preservation a reality. And, in honor of the fifth anniversary of the Ultimate
Drive, BMW today donated $5 for every mile driven in the hydrogen car.

"We are truly moved by the dedication and unparalleled commitment of the
thousands of Americans who have supported the Ultimate Drive across the
nation," said Jim McDowell, Vice President of Marketing of BMW of North
America, LLC. "In the past five years, we have raised more than $5 million for
the fight against breast cancer, including research that is going to change the
way the disease is diagnosed, treated, and ultimately, cured."

"The Ultimate Drive program has been instrumental in educating people and
raising awareness of breast cancer," said Linda Kay Peterson, Chairman of the
Board, the Komen Foundation. "We are proud to celebrate the accomplishments of
the Drive's Fifth Anniversary. This significant milestone proves that by
working together, we can not only help save lives today, but we can also invest
in a cure for future generations."

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was established in 1982 by Nancy
Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died from breast
cancer at the age of 36. Today, the Foundation is an international
organization with more than 100 affiliates working to eradicate breast cancer
as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and
treatment.

The Foundation is the nation's largest private funder of breast cancer research
and community outreach programs. In addition to funding research, the Komen
Foundation and its Affiliates fund innovative breast cancer education,
screening and treatment projects for the medically under-served. Hundreds of
thousands of women and men receive the life-saving message of early detection
through Komen's outreach efforts.
