Woodcliff Lake, NJ - July 29, 2005... Young performance drivers can cruise
through the frenzied terrain of the playground in luxury style in the new BMW 6
Series Convertible Kids' Car. Detailed with BMW precision, the single-seater
will put a spark in the eye of little tikes everywhere with its sporty design
and fun features, including a forward and reverse gear, a hand brake and foot
brake, and "real" electric horn.
The 6 Series Convertible Kids' Car, built for ages four to seven years old or
up to 110 pounds, comes in a battery-powered electric version or pedal version.
Once young drivers get behind the wheel of this miniature marvel - whichever
version they choose - they'll sense the fiery spirit of the convertible and
shift into overdrive for hours of open-air driving pleasure.
Kids can reach speeds of two to five miles per hour in the electric version, as
they take on tight turns and gracefully corner around their favorite
playground. The miniature-size electric vehicle also features plastic wheels
for handling the playground terrain and an electronic speed indicator so kids
can track their pace.
There's no need for a key to start the engine, because this "powered" vehicle
is turned on and off with a switch. The electric version features a hand brake
that operates when the motor is running and a convenient foot brake that will
bring kids to a smooth stop when the motor is turned off.
The battery-charged version offers 90 minutes of uninterrupted driving fun and
the battery-charging indicator warns drivers that it's time to take a break and
"recharge." The BMW logo is prominently featured on the steering wheel with an
electric horn that alerts friends and family of the youngster's latest twists,
turns, arrivals and departures.
Kids can take the need for speed into their own hands - or rather their feet -
with the pedal version of the BMW 6 Series Convertible Kids' Car. Enthusiasm is
key to powering this version, which has a chain crank operation.
Both versions of this top-down convertible replica feature the distinctive BMW
front-split kidney grille and a metallic red, painted steel frame with sturdy,
plastic body construction. The plastic parts are deburred, so there's no risk
of kids encountering sharp edges as they climb behind the wheel and gear up for
adventure.
Young drivers can create their own "street" with an assortment of international
toy road and traffic signs. The battery-operated traffic light ($30) features a
weighted base and flashes from red to green, helping drivers handle any
oncoming traffic flow, and the pylon traffic cones ($8 each) can create a fun
autocross or a parking area for drivers and their playmates. The hazard,
parking and right-of-way signs come as a set of three for $25. The stop,
caution, and no parking signs also come in a set of three for $25.
The electric car's dimensions are 55 inches by 21.5 inches by 21 inches, and
weighs approximately 37.5 pounds. It operates on 12 volts - two 6 volt
batteries, and retails for $425. The pedal model, which retails for $250, is 55
inches by 21.5 inches by 21 inches with an approximate weight of 22 pounds.
