In the months to October, deliveries are already well over 1 million
Munich. The BMW Group has continued its growth course in October 2005. In
comparison with the same month last year (101,909), sales rose by 6.6% to
108,628 BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce cars. Year-to-date through October, 1,097,103
cars were delivered, and sales have passed the million mark. This is a rise of
10.9% compared with the first ten months of the previous year (989,206).
In the month under review, sales of BMW brand cars rose to 92,748 units
(previous year: 86,775 / +6.9%). For the period ending October 31, 921,340 BMW
vehicles were sold (previous year: 830,704 / +10.9%). The new BMW 3 Series
Sport Wagon has been available from BMW dealerships since the middle of
September. Even in the launch phase, it has become clear that this car is very
popular with customers. Within the first six weeks, 11,167 of the new BMW 3
Series Sport Wagon were handed over to customers. Since its market launch at
the beginning of March this year, 175,449 of the BMW best seller, the new 3
Series Sedan, have been delivered. Altogether, in the first 10 months of the
current year, 243,694 BMW 3 Series Sedans left the BMW dealerships (previous
year: 197,451/+23.4%).
Dr. Michael Ganal, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for
sales and marketing: "The driving forces behind our success are currently the
new generation of the BMW 3 Series Sedan and Sport Wagon, and also vehicles
with which we have recently opened up completely new market segments. In the
first ten months of 2005, these models in particular - the BMW X3, the BMW 6
Series and the BMW 1 Series - are well above the levels of the previous year."
MINI sales pass the 175,000 mark
MINI sales rose in October 2005 by 5.0% to 15,809 vehicles (previous year:
15,063). In the first ten months of 2005, 175,228 MINI were sold worldwide
(previous year: 157,946 / +10.9%). This means that sales of the MINI have grown
steadily and sustainably since the market launch of this internationally
successful premium small car in summer 2001.
Among the major markets for the BMW Group, especially China, Spain and South
Africa stick out in the first ten months of 2005, having recorded particularly
strong growth rates. In the Chinese markets, sales rose by 29.4% to 26,595
automobiles (previous year: 20,546). In Spain, the increase is 29.1% to 46,565
