MINI COOPER WOWS THE CROWDS AT ITS BRITISH DEBUT
Thu Nov 02 12:00:00 CET 2000 Press Release
The new MINI COOPER, due to be unveiled in the US at the North American International Auto Show in January 2001, has been wowing crowds at its home debut at the British International Motor Show.
Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey November 2, 2000.... The new MINI COOPER, due to be
unveiled in the US at the North American International Auto Show in January
2001, has been wowing crowds at its home debut at the British International
Motor Show.
Seen for the first time by the British public, the car has received glowing
tributes from allcomers. Described as 'gorgeous', 'stylish', 'a classic design
now with more room' and 'marvelous', the MINI COOPER seems to be fanning the
flames of the British public's long love affair with MINI. Interest is such,
that with nine months to go until cars go on sale in the UK, and even before
the car has been driven in public, more than 30,000 Britons have registered
interest in MINI COOPER with hundreds of firm orders already placed.
The COOPER is the first all new product shown from the MINI brand since its
inception in 1959 and represents a total redesign for the automotive icon.
The MINI COOPER is a modern development of a genuine classic. Reflecting the
styling cues of the old Mini with the very latest technology, making it one of
the most advanced cars of its size in the market. Designed for handling and
performance as well as great looks, the MINI COOPER is a car that real
enthusiasts will love driving.
"The MINI COOPER stands as an evolution of the original Mini. It carries the
genes, character and excitement of its predecessor, however it is larger, more
powerful and more muscular for today's driver", says Frank Stephenson, chief
designer, MINI.
MINI will be sold in the US via a select group of existing dealers from BMW
North America's retail network from March 2002. Each MINI dealer will have a
sales environment and staffing exclusively dedicated to the franchise.
Sales of 100,000 units a year are expected worldwide when full production has
been reached.
