Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, January 16, 2003... Automobile Magazine once again
bestowed more All-Star awards upon BMW than any other manufacturer in the
February 2003 issue. In the annual poll among Automobile Magazine editors, BMW
models captured the following four awards:

- Best Luxury Car Under $40,000: BMW 3 Series

- Best GT: BMW M3

- Best Sport Sedan/Wagon: BMW M5

- Best Luxury Car Over $40,000: BMW 7 Series

BMW models have earned a place among the prestigious Automobile Magazine
All-Stars list twelve years consecutively. In that time, BMW has received a
total of 43 "All-Star" awards from the editors and readers of Automobile.

For the eleventh time, spanning two model generations, the BMW 3 Series
continued the tradition by earning another All-Star award: Best Luxury Car
Under $40,000. Automobile Magazine wrote, "...BMW's ideally weighted steering,
slick-shifting gearbox, sports car handling, and oh-so-willing engines make it
the sedan of choice for those who consider driving a pleasure rather than a
burden."

Also, for the fourth year in a row since its introduction, the BMW M5 was named
Best Sport Sedan/Wagon in the editor's poll. "BMW's soul-stirring M5 is...a 155
mph cruise missile dripping in luxury. Turn off the radio, shut down the cell
phone, and pay attention. You're about to go for the ride of a lifetime."

The all-new 7 Series, recognized for its unparalleled driving experience,
garnered this praise: "...the 7 Series is...challenging, demanding, even
addictive. This is the automotive equivalent of first class."

Automobile Magazine editors also commented on the M3 as Best GT: "The degree to
which suspension, wheels and tires all work together to deliver fast, fluid,
and unflappable cornering is extraordinary...The M3 is a celebration of
traditional BMW strengths."

The February issue is the second issue in a row to offer BMW praise from the
editors of Automobile. In the January issue BMW was recognized for its design
leadership when the editors awarded the BMW Z4 their 2003 "Design of the Year"
and the BMW Group's design chief Chris Bangle their 2003 "Man of the Year"
awards. Of the Z4's design the editors noted, "The Z4 may not be classically
beautiful, but it is a strong design. Very strong." The editors believed that
Chris Bangle was worthy of "Man of the Year" honors because, "right now he is
the center of attention for the entire industry, an important influence in the
near term..."
