Dublin, OH - December 28, 2004... In recognition of its outstanding leadership
training programs, BMW Financial Services has been presented with the
prestigious Leadership Award from Dale Carnegie Training. It is the fourth
honor received by the company this year commending its workplace initiatives.
The international award is presented by Dale Carnegie & Associates to companies
dedicated to the ideal that their people are as important to the overall
success of the organization as any technology, patent or business strategy.
Established in 1985, the Leadership Award has been presented to 20 recipients a
year worldwide.
"We strongly believe that everyone at BMW Financial Services has a contribution
to make in terms of the overall management of the company, and we have taken
significant steps to ensure that every employee is empowered to maximize those
contributions," said John Christman, Chief Executive Officer of BMW Financial
Services, Americas Region. "Leadership development is a philosophical
underpinning of our corporate culture, and it is gratifying to see our efforts
recognized by our partners in this endeavor."
Since 2002, BMW Financial Services has developed five separate training
programs in conjunction with Dale Carnegie, one of the leading companies in
corporate management, workplace issues and leadership trends. To date, more
than 253 managers and associates (46% of total staff) have participated in the
programs, which include the New Leader Institute for team leaders and section
managers, the Advanced Leader Institute for department managers and executives
and the Associate Leadership Program for non-management personnel. All BMW
employees are ultimately expected to take part.
"BMW Financial Services is setting the pace for others to follow," said
President & CEO, Peter Handal, of Dale Carnegie & Associates. "BMW Financial
Services' management team has repeatedly demonstrated a commitment to their
employees and to making their company a great place to work. Dale Carnegie
Training is excited to be involved in empowering BMW Financial Services
associates and creating an environment that instills a strong sense of
commitment and positively impacts the bottom line."
Leadership training is just one component of the overall focus on professional
development at BMW Financial Services. In addition to a generous tuition
reimbursement program, each associate is expected to achieve 40 hours of annual
training related to current or future positions.
Earlier this year, BMW Financial Services was named one of the "Best Small and
Medium Companies to Work for in America" by the Great Places to Work Institute
(GPTWI) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The company also
received two top honors for its strategic performance and employee training
programs: the 2003 Balanced Scorecard Hall of Fame award, given out by the
Balanced Scorecard Collaborative, Inc., and the number 45 ranking in Training
Magazine's 2003 Top 100 List.
