BALDWIN BROTHERS AND BMW OF MANHATTAN REV UP SUPPORT FOR CAROL M. BALDWIN BREAST CANCER RESEARCH FUND
Mon Oct 28 12:00:00 CET 99 Press Release
Actors Stephen and Billy Baldwin were leading a group of New York-area motorcyclists on a 120-mile ride which raised more than $10,000 for the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund.
A driving rain did not deter actors Stephen and Billy Baldwin from leading a
group of New York-area motorcyclists on a ride from Manhattan to Montauk,
Sunday, October 10, for the BMW/Baldwin Family "Ride for Life." The 120-mile
ride, which began with a breakfast buffet at BMW of Manhattan and ended with a
lobster dinner at the Montauk Yacht Club, raised more than $10,000 for the
Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund, an organization founded by breast
cancer survivor Carol M. Baldwin (and mother of actors Stephen, Billy, Alec and
Daniel).
"Our motorcycle advertising campaign highlights the passion BMW riders feel
toward motorcycling, and this ride was a perfect example of that kind of
dedication," commented William Kehoe, General Manager of BMW of Manhattan, Inc.
I'd like to commend the riders and the Baldwins for participating amidst less
than desirable conditions for a very worthwhile cause."
"We are extremely grateful to the many people at BMW of Manhattan who helped
organize this ride and, of course, to the riders who braved the elements to
make this event a success," said Carol M. Baldwin. Joining the BMW/Baldwin Ride
caravan was 1999 Miss USA Kimberly Ann Pressler, of New York; a group of New
York police officers representing "The Wild Pigs;" journalists; and
motorcyclists riding a variety of bikes.
The Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund, Inc., supports both new and
established researchers at University Hospital and Medical Center at the State
University of New York at Stony Brook investigating the causes, prevention and
treatment of breast cancer. Carol is joined in her efforts by her children:
daughters Jane and Elizabeth, and her sons, actors Alec, Stephen, Billy and
Daniel.
