Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey...In the world of luxury cars, the BMW 7 Series
moves into model year 2000 as an absolutely unique entity. The appeal of these
magnificent sedans derives not just from their quality and luxury, but also
from their inimitable performance and active driving pleasure: BMW's
long-standing tradition of cultivating The Joy of Driving applies to these
large, luxurious automobiles just as it does to more overtly sporty BMWs such
as the M3 and M roadster.
Less than a year, ago, this unique Series of performance-oriented luxury sedans
received a subtle yet extensive freshening encompassing exterior design
details, interior features, engine and transmission technology, expanded
standard equipment, and a new Sport Package for the sportiest 7 Series model,
the 740i. Now, for its millennium model year, the Series again adds new
features, expands its range of standard equipment and offers new choices. Once
again the Series includes two V-8 models: the standard-wheelbase 740i and
long-wheelbase 740iL, and the long-wheelbase 750iL, now the only production
luxury sedan powered by a V-12 engine. Further, the Series adds two new models,
the 740iL and 750iL Protection Line light-armored vehicles, addressing a market
need that so far has not been served by any major automobile maker in the U.S.
market.
