Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, September 26, 2001 - BMW of North America has
appointed Thomas J. Plucinsky to the position of General Manager, Motorcycles.
In his new position, Mr. Plucinsky, 40, will be responsible for all aspects of
the BMW Motorcycle business within the United States and tasked with continuing
the phenomenal growth achieved thus far.
Mr. Plucinsky brings a wide range of experience to the position both in the
motorcycle as well as the automotive industry. Mr. Plucinsky comes to this
position from his previous role as Aftersales Manager, Motorcycles responsible
for Service, Parts, Accessories and Apparel business development. Prior to his
tenure as Aftersales Manager, he held the position of Motorcycle Manager at BMW
Canada.
Mr. Plucinsky is an avid, year-round rider who regularly commutes to work by
motorcycle and is passionate about testing and evaluating BMW Riders' Apparel
and products destined for the retail consumer. About five years ago, his early
love for fine automobiles and performance driving was permanently supplanted by
a sudden irresistible urge to ride a motorcycle. Since throwing a leg over his
first motorcycle, he has accumulated over 300,000 miles spanning 8 countries,
on the street, track, dirt and even a little snow.
Mr. Plucinsky's career within the BMW Group has been remarkably varied since he
joined the company in 1989. During this time, he has held positions in
Corporate Communications, Product Planning, Service Engineering and Technical
Training within the automotive division of BMW in the Canadian market.
Mr. Plucinsky replaces Edward A. Robinson who has now completed his transition
to the automotive division of BMW of North America.
