Tue Mar 26 12:00:00 CET 2002 Press Release
The BMW 7 Series was awarded "Best Engineered Car for 2002" in Automotive Engineering International Magazine, the second prestigious recognition for it's engineering and technology in the last few months.
Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, March 26, 2002...The BMW 7 Series was awarded "Best
Engineered Car for 2002" in Automotive Engineering International Magazine, the
second prestigious recognition for it's engineering and technology in the last
few months. In the March 2002 issue, Automotive Engineering International
editors wrote, "The 7 Series was selected because it points the way for not
only luxury/performance sedans, but also other vehicle segments. Company
product developers integrated many new technologies into the fourth-generation
BMW flagship in an effort to set new standards in performance and efficiency,
as well as luxury, design and safety." The 7 Series was also featured in "The
Best of What's New 2001" in the December 2001 issue of Popular Science, which
reported, "BMW has rethought how to integrate new technology into cars, and the
result - the 2002 745i - simply blows us away. The result...a seamless blend of
high-tech and mechanical refinement..."
Customer response to the new 7 has been extremely positive with sales for the
first two months of 2002 increasing nearly 50 percent over sales of the
previous 7 during the same period in 2001. "BMW has enjoyed tremendous success
with sales of the new 7 Series. This is due in no small part to our ongoing
efforts to offer the newest and best technology to BMW owners," said Tom
Purves, Chairman and CEO of BMW (US) Holding Corp., "which is why we are so
grateful for recognition from Automotive Engineering International and Popular
Science."
