Cané - Galliani with the BMW 328 MM Touring take the trophy for the seventh
time. Victory in the women's classification and second place in the
manufacturers' classification round off BMW's successful showing.

Munich. On the 75th anniversary of the Mille Miglia, BMW Mobile Tradition
contested this year's event with ten meticulously prepared vehicles. Among the
starters in the BMW Team was one of the chief favourites, Giuliano Canè.
Sporting the number 146, he and his wife Lucia Galliani entered the race in the
BMW 328 Mille Miglia Touring Roadster. Originally built for the 1941 event, it
was never fielded after the race was called off due to the war.

370 lovingly preserved racing and touring cars of the most famous marques of
their day set out from Brescia last Thursday evening on the "Thousand Miles of
Italy", which was once again meticulously and superbly organized on behalf of
participants and spectators from around the world.

Giuliano Canè, who had already won the Mille Miglia six times (four of them
with BMW), demonstrated from the word go that he was once again a force to be
reckoned with. He mastered the individual trials with his trademark precision
and was rapturously cheered by hundreds of thousands of spectators who lined
the route that ran through the Apennine mountains and such historic city
centres as San Marino, Assisi, Siena and Florence, to name but a few.

By the finish in Brescia, the BMW team of Canè - Galliani had proved unbeatable
and deservedly took the trophy as overall winners. The Boni - Barziza team
gained 19th position overall to claim victory in the women's classification.
The other cars sporting the blue and white logo and manned by drivers as famous
as they were ambitious also secured good placings, earning BMW second place in
the manufacturers' classification and successfully rounding off the company's
participation in this anniversary Mille Miglia.
