Munich, Germany. August 23. 2002. David Barry Panton (49) will be taking over
management of the region Europe at the BMW Group as from 1 September 2002. This
means that he is responsible for all sales markets in Western Europe outside
Germany. Panton is the successor to Stefan Krause, who has been responsible for
Finance on the company's Board of Management since May this year.
Panton, who was born in England, was formerly President of the BMW Group's
Swedish sales subsidiary (BMW Sverige AB). In his new position, he will report
to Dr. Michael Ganal, who is responsible for Sales and Marketing on the Board
of Management.
Altogether, the sales organisation of the BMW Group consists of the regions
Germany (Ralph Weyler), Europe (David Panton), America (Tom Purves) and the
region Asia, Pacific, Africa, East Europe (Lüder Paysen).
