Lemont, IL – September 12, 2010… The 2010 BMW Championship concluded today with a thrilling victory by Dustin Johnson, who beat the field of the world’s top 70 professional golfers by one stroke.
Dustin Johnson’s victory was his second of the year, and propelled him to second in the FedExCup standings. The top 30 finishers from the BMW Championship will continue on to the final round of the playoffs.
BMW donates all proceeds from the BMW Championship to the Evans Scholars Foundation, which provides full college tuition and housing scholarships to deserving young caddies. Since joining the tournament in 2007, BMW has donated more than $7.3 million to the Foundation. This year, BMW also funded a $100,000 Evans scholarship in PGA TOUR player Sean O’Hair’s name after he shot a hole-in-one in the third round of the tournament.
“This week, we saw some inspiring performances out on the golf course. But what really inspires me, and everyone at BMW, is the hard work, dedication and drive of the Evans Scholars – many of whom I had the pleasure of meeting this week,” said Jim O’Donnell, President of BMW of North America. “We view our support of the Evans Scholars Foundation as an important investment in the future and one that we are proud to make every year at the BMW Championship and beyond.”
“We are incredibly grateful to our partner, BMW, for its continued support of the Evans Scholars Foundation,” noted John Kaczkowski, Western Golf Association President and CEO. “From their terrific teen driving event, which kicked off the tournament and afforded a group of our Scholars the chance to become safer drivers, to the ongoing BMW internship program that gives our Scholars the opportunity to prepare for post-university careers, BMW has really shown that giving back is about more than just a financial contribution.”
