BMW Team RLL qualified in the third and fourth starting positions for tonight’s Motul 100% Synthetic Grand Prix looking to extend the team’s podium finishing streak to five races. The 100-minute race is the second GT class-only race of the 2020 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season and is being held on Charlotte Motor Speedway’s 2.32-mile, 10-turn “roval” circuit.

In a qualifying session that was cut short and only allowed the BMW drivers four laps, Bruno Spengler put the No. 25 MOTUL BMW M8 GTE in the third starting spot with a  1:14.730-minute lap. Jesse Krohn lined up the No 24 MOTUL BMW M8 GTE next door, in fourth, with a 1:14.824-minute lap.

BMW Team RLL has scored consecutive podium finishes at Road America (P3), Virginia International Raceway (P2), Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta (P1, P3) and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (P2) – placing BMW a strong second in GTLM class manufacturer points standings. No. 25 MOTUL BMW M8 GTE co-drivers Connor De Phillippi and Bruno Spengler stand third in driver points with teammates John Edwards and Jesse Krohn, co-drivers of the No. 24 MOTUL BMW M8 GTE, stand fourth.

Bruno Spengler, driver No. 25 BMW M8 GTE (P3): “We did not have a lot of laps, but P3 is a good starting position. We believe the conditions will be quite tricky, but Connor and I will push hard.”

Jesse Krohn, driver No. 24 BMW M8 GTE  (P4): “We don’t have the fastest cars here as yet, but I think we may just have the cars to win. We will certainly bring a challenge.”
