MINI John Cooper Works Team Enters 2021 SRO TC America Season Following Back-To-Back Manufacturers Titles

Woodcliff Lake, N.J., March 4, 2021 - MINI USA and the MINI John Cooper Works Team (MINI JCW Team) have announced their participation in the upcoming 2021 SRO TC America series, beginning at Sonoma Raceway on March 5.  In its continued partnership with Indianapolis-based LAP Motorsports, which owns and operates the MINI JCW Team, MINI USA will once again run two cars in the Touring Car A class (TCA) for the 2021 season. Mark Pombo will return in car #61 MINI JCW alongside Clayton Williams driving the #62 MINI JCW.

The MINI John Cooper Works Team has high expectations following a successful finish to the 2020 SRO TCA America season. Highlights included the team taking home five and six podiums at Sonoma and Virginia International Raceway, respectively, as well as winning the Manufacturers’ Championship title.

Since there will be no fans in attendance at the track, both races will be streamed live at YouTube.com/GTWorld. In addition, MINI John Cooper Works Team owner Luis Perocarpi and members of the team will be posting live debriefings and updates from each session across the team’s social media channels including Facebook and Instagram.

Continuing a years-long tradition, technicians from MINI dealerships all over the country will support the MINI JCW Team throughout the season as part of the MINI Service Technicians Education Program (STEP).

The MINI JCW Team also won Manufacturers’ Championship in 2018 in the final season of the Street Tuner class of the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Series, where the team finished ahead of BMW, Porsche and Mazda.
