Mountain View, CA – August 12, 2026… BMW i Ventures, the independent venture capital fund of the BMW Group, has invested in CodeRabbit as part of the company’s $143 million Series C financing round. The round was co-led by Atomico and Smash Capital and values CodeRabbit at $1.5 billion.

CodeRabbit reviews proposed code changes before they are approved and released. The platform identifies potential quality, security and reliability issues while taking into account the context of the existing software, relevant requirements and test results. Its review is independent of whether the code was created by a human developer or an AI model. This helps teams assess changes safely and decide what is ready to be released.

As AI tools generate more code, software teams need effective ways to assess and manage those changes at scale. CodeRabbit reviews proposed changes in the context of the wider code repository, related tickets, project history, company-specific standards and isolated test results. This helps teams identify errors, security issues and other risks earlier, while allowing developers to focus on understanding the change and deciding what should ship.

CodeRabbit will use the new funding to expand internationally and invest in research and product development, including its work on Agentic Change Management, a system designed to help software teams review, prioritize, understand and monitor changes made by people and AI agents.

“The digital ambitions of automotive companies depend on highly efficient engineering teams and consistently reliable software. CodeRabbit has become a key technology in helping developers improve code quality and work more effectively,” said Kasper Sage, Managing Partner at BMW i Ventures. “Our investment demonstrates our belief in the company’s technology and its long-term potential to be the category leader.”

CodeRabbit supports more than 1,000 BMW software developers.

BMW and CodeRabbit have worked together for more than two years to develop and deploy an AI-powered solution for source-code review.

“For more than two years, we have partnered with CodeRabbit to develop and successfully deploy an innovative AI solution for source-code review. Today, the CodeRabbit AI agent supports more than 1,000 BMW software developers worldwide in developing and ensuring the quality of our vehicle software. This significantly accelerates automotive software development. By reducing the time and effort required for code reviews, the solution also gives our teams more time to focus on developing new and innovative software features for our customers,” said Georg Baetz, Head of Electrical and Electronic Integration and Validation Driving Experience at BMW Group.

CodeRabbit expands in Europe.

CodeRabbit has recently opened an office in Moorgate, London and has 50 full-time employees across London and the European Union. The company plans to expand its European presence further while also entering Japan and other key Asian markets.

CodeRabbit’s revenue has grown more than 5x year over year. The company now conducts more than two million code reviews each week and is depended on by more than 17,000 customers and open-source projects worldwide.

CodeRabbit has also expanded its team across Europe, including six employees in Germany, to support regional customers such as BMW and Trivago. It is seeing strong interest from prominent companies in the DACH region. The region’s focus on engineering quality and reliability makes it an important market for CodeRabbit.

From AI code review to Agentic Change Management.

With the new financing round, CodeRabbit is expanding its platform beyond code reviews through its approach to Agentic Change Management. The system is designed to help teams govern software

changes created by developers and AI agents. It places each change in the context of the wider software project, the company’s quality and security standards, existing tests and other knowledge from the development team.

If potential issues are identified, coding agents can automatically attempt to address them and trigger a new review. The final decision remains with a human reviewer. This allows developers to spend more time understanding the impact of a change and deciding what should ultimately be released.

An independent review layer can be particularly useful for large and regulated software organisations. It combines a company’s own standards with information about the wider software project and the governance, security, compliance and audit requirements needed to release software reliably at scale.

“Code changes now originate across the software organisation, including from developers, non-technical personnel, coding agents, issue trackers, support systems and production alerts. Every change creates a decision for the team,” said Harjot Gill, co-founder and CEO of CodeRabbit. “We pioneered AI code review to give teams an independent system that validates the work before it ships. Agentic Change Management expands that layer to determine what deserves attention, explain each change’s impact and continue monitoring the codebase after it ships.”
