BMW Motorrad Motorsport, OrangeCat Racing, SDK and Jayson Uribe combine for three podium finishes at MotoAmerica VIR Triple Header Weekend.

• Jayson Uribe’s first podium finish of 2026 season.

• SDK and OrangeCat lead the Superbike Championship by 17 points.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – August 17, 2026 . . .The 2026 MotoAmerica Quad Lock Superbike series continue to deliver excitement and unpredictability for all 2-wheel race fans with a weekend that saw both challenges and triumphs. The heat, humidity and occasional rain shower at VIR Virginia International Raceway put extra strain on both rider and machine. On top of the weather, VIR presented the first of two MotoAmerica Superbike weekends with three races, versus the more common two race events.

Friday Qualifying saw Sean Dylan Kelly qualify his BMW M 1000 RR in P2 with Jayson Uribe securing a P11 and fourth row start.

Race 1 on Saturday proved that the competition was not going to let SDK and OrangeCat Racing just walk away with the season Championship without a fight. Kelly stayed in third position for most of the event and although he closed the gap several times, it was just not enough to successfully attack P2. Uribe was able to convert his 11^th place start into a P9 finish.

Sunday’s Race 2 was almost an exact carbon copy of Saturday with Sean Dylan Kelly crossing the finish line in P3 and Jayson Uribe in P9.

Race 3 on Sunday was when the excitement for the OrangeCat Racing team really began. The riders were all pushing extremely hard and eventually a red flag led to a race pause. After the restart, an unfortunate incident involving several leading racers, including SDK who was leading the race before the stop, completely changed the results of the race. Jayson Uribe found himself towards the front and saw his first podium finish within reach. He was not going to let this opportunity pass, as witnessed by fans seeing Uribe standing his BMW M 1000 RR on its front wheel under hard braking on multiple occasions. Meanwhile, SDK scrambled to his bike after going down and was able to restart it and rejoin the race in P16. A bent handlebar meant that Kelly’s lap times were off the leading pace but he still managed to work his way to P15, the last points scoring position of the race, adding one more very hard earned point to his championship lead.

Sean Dylan Kelly (rider No. 40 OrangeCat Racing BMW M 1000 RR): “This weekend at VIR was a wild one! We knew it would be a challenging track for us, but we worked hard to maximize every time out and I’m proud of the work we did. We are bringing home another couple of podiums, and we continue leading the championship. The last race of the day was unfortunate, being taken out in the first corner, but I’m glad I was able to pick up the bike and bring it home in P15, getting one championship point. We head to COTA next, a track where I feel we can be strong. Thank you very much to my whole team, my crew, and BMW for all the hard work!”

Jayson Uribe (rider No. 36 OrangeCat Racing BMW M 1000 RR): “I’m very proud to finish off a somewhat challenging weekend at VIR with a podium in race 3! I was struggling with sector 2 all weekend long, which was reflected in my qualifying position for the races down in 11th. It definitely gave me some work to do in the hot and humid weather, but I think we made the most of the situation at hand as a team. The last race was hectic with the red flag and crazy first lap on the restart, I just tried my best to put my head down and charge as hard as I could. Closed a 2 second gap to the leader and had a good fight for the win! I decided to play it safe on the last lap and ended P3. Super thankful for all of the OrangeCat Racing crew for their hard work and support, as well as BMW for an incredible machine. I’m so happy to check this milestone off the list for 2026, I’m hungry for more and will put in the work to make it happen again.”

Quad Lock Superbike Championship Standings

After seven rounds of Quad Lock Superbike racing, Sean Dylan Kelly leads the Championship by 17 points while Jayson Uribe moves up to 6^th position after his podium finish in Race 3.
