Ergonomic, Distinctive Design Delivers Sleek Look
Woodcliff Lake, NJ - July 7, 2005... Down shift gears and set your own pace on
the BMW Cruise Bike, the new two-wheeler that offers a distinctive design and
the ultimate, easy-going riding experience.
The seamless and visually striking frame of the BMW Cruise Bike was
manufactured through hydroforming, a state-of-the-art process using
high-pressure water to allow the walls of the tube to expand inside a mold and
free the aluminum of any shape restrictions. The original and unmistakable
impression of the BMW Cruise Bike is a mixture of a beach cruiser and a
trekking bike with a cushioned seat.
Whether it's a scenic ride along the boardwalk or an invigorating adventure in
the countryside, the Cruise Bike delivers a smooth, enjoyable ride at a
leisurely pace. The versatile, unique engineering also transforms riding on
rough city streets into a pleasurable experience. The bike's tires are smooth
in the middle, yet they have plenty of traction toward the outer area to help
navigate through wet riding conditions.
Riders can stop on a dime with the integrated brake routing system - Avid Digit
3.0 V brakes, front SRAM 3.0 derailleurs, back SRAM SX 4 derailleurs and Rapid
Fire shifter. The smooth ride can be attributed to the Suntour suspensions.
The frame and bike chassis geometry comply with latest industry standards for
sporty city bikes and comfortable trekking bikes for hours of cycling fun.
Young cycling enthusiasts can join mom and dad on a smooth ride as the BMW
Cruise Bike is compatible with standard child seats.
Shimano hubs with Rodi Typhoon rims in silver and Continental City Ride tires
add to the design aesthetic of the "Cruiser," and the BMW logo is incorporated
into the frame. The sleek bike forgoes spoke reflectors and instead uses
illuminating 3M strips on the wheel rims.
Owners can transport the bike using BMW rack systems for road trips to their
ideal cruising location. The bike also features pedals with aluminum cage and
allows for individual retrofitting with standard cycle parts for luggage rack,
wheel guard battery light and drinking bottle.
The BMW Cruise Bike retails for $800 and is available in an 18 or 20-inch
frame, both in sparkling graphite, with a height of 65-69 inches or 68-74
inches; it weighs approximately 32 pounds.
