Munich. Professor Ulrich Bruhnke (52), Chairman of the Board of Management of
BMW M GmbH, will be leaving the BMW Group on 31 January 2007 at his own request
in order to devote himself to new challenges and to his scientific work.
Ulrich Bruhnke took over as head of M GmbH from his predecessor Adolf P.
Prommesberger on 1.12.2003. Previously, Bruhnke had been Chairman of the Board
of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
In recent years, Professor Bruhnke has played a major role in the success of
the company and in expanding the product portfolio of M GmbH. Five models were
launched on the market under his leadership. The new BMW M5 was introduced in
2004, followed the next spring by the BMW M6 Coupé. This year, three new models
were also launched in quick succession: the BMW Z4 M Roadster, the BMW Z4 M
Coupé and the BMW M6 Cabrio.
BMW M GmbH is a subsidiary of BMW AG with three different areas of business:
development and sales of BMW M vehicles, BMW Individual and BMW Driver
Training. The company employs around 550 people. Around 40,000 cars are sold
each year via BMW M GmbH, comprising 20,000 Individual vehicles and 20,000 M3,
M5, M6, Z4 M Roadster and Z4 M Coupé.
Professor Bruhnke's successor will be announced at a later date.
