BMW Group Canada supports charity with donation of Nelson Mandela autographed Democracy Car

Limited Edition 325i to be auctioned at Nelson Mandela Children's Fund Tribute
Gala

November 1, 2004, Whitby, ON...One of 10 limited edition Democracy Cars
personally signed by Nelson Mandela will be auctioned at the Nelson Mandela
Tribute Gala in Toronto on November 13, 2004 (www.mandela-children.ca). Taking
place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the annual event brings together
those who are committed to the support of disadvantaged children and youth,
with proceeds going to the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund Canada. On the tenth
anniversary of the first democratic elections held in South Africa, the Gala
will honour Mr. Mandela. The keynote speaker for the evening is Danny Glover, a
distinguished actor of stage and screen, known for his zeal and commitment to
the betterment of humankind.

The BMW Democracy Car initiative is an international effort spearheaded by BMW
South Africa. To celebrate the tenth anniversary of democracy, the South
African government requested every sector of the population to make a
contribution. In response, associates at BMW's Rosslyn Plant near Pretoria,
South Africa completed the manufacture of 10 limited edition 3 Series
vehicles. These Democracy Cars were built as part of a company-wide donation
of time, material and energy on the part of each and every BMW South Africa
associate.

To increase the value of the vehicles to collectors in South Africa and abroad,
Mr Mandela kindly agreed to personally sign each of the vehicles. He placed
his signature on a prominent area of the interior trim and a plaque verifying
the authenticity of the signature is affixed.

A number of BMW subsidiaries around the world are participating in raising
funds by selling the cars to enthusiasts in their home markets. Democracy Cars
have been exported to Canada, the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom,
New Zealand and Germany. Three cars will remain in South Africa for auction or
sale to local collectors.

Associates at BMW's Rosslyn Plant generously agreed to donate unpaid time in
order to build the cars and management extended their working hours in support
of their colleagues at the plant. Many BMW suppliers also agreed to provide
parts and components for the cars at no charge and BMW AG covered the costs of
all imported materials that form part of these 10 Democracy Cars.

The 325i Democracy Car to be auctioned at the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund
Tribute Gala is Silver Grey metallic in colour with a black Montana leather
interior and Titanium trim, on which Mr. Mandela's signature appears. It is
equipped with BMW's renowned 2.5 litre inline six-cylinder engine, producing
184 horsepower. The Democracy Car equipment also includes a Premium Package
and Sport Package in addition to the high level of standard features in the
325i. Suggested retail price for a 325i with equal equipment is $51,885
Canadian, plus taxes and delivery.
