Munich. Right on time for the launch of the off-road bike HP2, BMW Motorrad is
presenting sample items from the forthcoming collection - the helmet Enduro and
the jacket Protection, both of which will be brought to market in the spring of
2006. The helmet is expected to be available at a price of 380 Euros, the
protective jacket costing 300 Euros. The boot Rallye GS2, which offers
optimised leg and foot protection, is due to go on sale in the autumn of this
year and will be priced at 290 Euros.
The helmet Enduro:
This futuristically designed helmet offers the highest degree of safety. The
materials used - fibreglass, carbon and KEVLAR® laminate are genuine
"lightweights" amongst high-quality materials. Thanks to the high tensile
strength and crush resistance of these materials, the helmet is exceptionally
well reinforced whilst at the same time remaining sufficiently flexible.
Particular attention was paid to aerodynamics when developing the helmet.
Whether with or without a shade, the helmet has outstanding aerodynamic
characteristics. The helmet Enduro will be available in three configurations to
suit the rider's personal preference - that is either with shade and visor,
without shade and with visor or with shade and without visor.
The jacket Protection:
The breathable jacket Protection, which is made of elastic net fabric and
DuPont Coolmax®, is particularly suitable for use in enduro motor sport.
Outstanding damping characteristics of the removable protectors, a new
development by BMW, are the result of stringent tests. The body is well
protected without restricting the freedom of movement of the sports-minded
rider. Thanks to the use of stretch fabric, the jacket adapts to all body
movements and prevents the protectors from slipping in the event of a fall.
Due to the application of the BMW Motorrad back protector 2, which has already
proven successful on the market, the back is well protected against bruises,
abrasions or even fractures.
The boot Rallye GS2:
The successor to the boot Rallye GS1 provides optimisation in dealing with two
factors crucial to concentration and safety when riding a motorcycle in any
kind of terrain - namely protection and comfort.
The protector, which is worn on the shin, is adjustable in width. Straps on the
inside and outside of the boot Rallye GS2 permit ample adjustment of the
anatomically shaped protector. The integrated joint located on the boot within
the area of the ankle enhances comfort and wearability.
A 5mm thick midsole eases discomfort when standing on the foot rest and
protects the foot against bruising and twisting.
The boot Rallye GS2, weighing just 1.900 grams, will be available in sizes 38
to 48 and is made entirely of full grain cowhide.
Accessories:
Endurists will be pleased to know that during the coming season BMW Motorrad
will be offering enduro eyeglasses and an enduro shirt as matching accessories.
