New Special Equipment and Colours

For the 2006 model year a number of model improvement measures will be carried
out. The new special equipment and colours can be ordered from all BMW Motorrad
dealers as of now.

Many new models already meet the EU3 exhaust emission standards now
From January 1st, 2006 new motorcycles entering the market must meet the EU3
exhaust emission standards (limits: CO 2.0g/km; HC 0.3g/km; NOx 0.15g/km).
These emission values only apply from January 1st, 2007 for models which are
already in series production.
The BMW K 1200 R, K 1200 S, R 1200 GS, R 1200 ST and R 1200 RT will already be
adapted to the new emission standards for the 2006 model year, i.e. one year
earlier than required by law. The R 1200 GS, the R 1200 ST and the R 1200 RT,
which will come off the Berlin production line from the end of August, already
meet the new and stricter limits. The K 1200 R and the K 1200 S will meet them
from December 2006.

K 1200 S / K 1200 R
From model year 2006 an onboard computer will be available as an optional extra
(displaying outside temperature, ice warning, measurement of range, average
fuel consumption and average speed). The instrument cluster of both models
features a segmented display which increases readability significantly.

K 1200 LT
For the K 1200 LT the brightness of the instrument cluster can be individually
adjusted. The onboard computer functions have been extended by the display of
average fuel consumption, an ice warning and a stopwatch. Xenon headlights are
offered for the first time on series production bikes which ensure improved and
more even road illumination. In addition xenon headlamps use 30 percent less
energy than conventional headlamps and have a considerably longer service life.
The xenon light feature is optionally available.

R 1200
GS
The R 1200 GS will also receive an instrument cluster with segmented display.

R 1200 ST
Among the new special equipment for the R 1200 ST is the Electric Suspension
Adjustment (ESA), an onboard computer (display of outside temperature, ice
warning, average fuel consumption, average speed) and an oil level warning. The
R 1200 ST also features an instrument cluster with segmented display.
