BMW Canada announced today the extension of their contract with Tennis Canada as the "Official Vehicle" of the Rogers Cup, presented by American Express. BMW has supported Tennis Canada since 1990 and will remain a Platinum level sponsor for the event, a regular stop on the Sony Ericsson Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Tour.

BMW Canada announced today the extension of their contract with Tennis Canada
as the "Official Vehicle" of the Rogers Cup, presented by American Express. BMW
has supported Tennis Canada since 1990 and will remain a Platinum level sponsor
for the event, a regular stop on the Sony Ericsson Women's Tennis Association
(WTA) Tour.
"BMW and Tennis Canada share a passion for performance and power," explains Joe
Lawrence, National Marketing Manager, BMW Group Canada. "We're pleased to
continue our association of the BMW brand with the number one women's tennis
tournament in Canada and one of the perennial players' favourites on WTA Tour
schedule."
As part of the Rogers Cup sponsorship agreement, BMW provides a fleet of
vehicles for transportation of players and media. In addition, BMW's
participation in the event is recognized through on-court backwall signage,
on-site vehicle displays, hospitality, preferred parking and program
advertising.
"BMW Canada has been a dedicated supporter of amateur tennis in Canada for
fifteen years," explains Stacey Allaster, Vice President and Tournament
Director, Tennis Canada. "Their contribution to the Rogers Cup, presented by
American Express, helps support junior and grassroots tennis programs while
promoting the growth of women's amateur sport in Canada."
The Rogers Cup rotates annually between Montreal and Toronto and regularly
attracts one of the strongest player fields on the WTA circuit. Entered into
the 2005 tournament are 3 of the WTA Tour's top 5 ranked players, 8 of the top
10 and 17 of the top 20. Heading the competition for the $1.3 million USD purse
are Maria Sharapova, defending champion Amelie Mauresomo, Serena Williams and
2005 Wimbledon champion Venus Williams . The 2005 Rogers Cup takes place at the
Rexall Centre in Toronto from August 13-21.
