The BMW Group and Design
Bringing out the fascination for design as a facet of artistic expression is a
challenge that lies close to the heart of the BMW Group. The spotlight here is
on mobility. A wide range of international discussion forums and exhibition
projects have placed the subject of design on a level with the most widely
varying approaches of art and provide a forum for an exciting exchange between
specialists and the interested public.
DesignworksUSA: Vision with the booth design in the Art Collectors Lounge
BMW Group DesignworksUSA presents a design case study. From large to small
products, transportation to technology, DesignworksUSA produces design work for
top name brands.
In this exhibition, DesignworksUSA captures the product development process for
both next generation production as well as future concepts. Featuring the
design language development program for Kyocera Wireless, a wall-size graphic
collage captures each stage of design. From inspiration to design strategy,
sketching to digital modeling, color and material to prototyping the viewer is
able to understand the birth of a product line and future roadmap.
DesignworksUSA prides itself on the use of intelligent creativity. By utilizing
strategic visualization techniques, DesignworksUSA demonstrates the richness of
visual communication through a multimedia display. A model of a boat designed
by DW for Carver is prominently positioned, capturing the creative diversity of
the firm. While past projects from clients such as John Deere and BenQ pepper
the exhibit with additional interest. As a global design consultancy, context
and function play complimentary roles to the expression of style. Here art is
transformed into design.

at the forefront of the festivities. One of the most anticipated events for the
elite art world's yearly calendar, this get-together unites the top VIPs of the
local and international art scene in an extraordinary and almost surreal
atmosphere from food to music - that makes Miami unique. For the past three
years, the party has proven to be one that has surpassed everyone's
expectations, with more than 1,000 international art collectors, curators,
artists and celebrities attending the event. The ArtNexus VIP Party for Art
Basel Miami Beach 2005 will take place Friday December 2nd at the beautiful
Bayfront Park. From 8 to 10pm three hundred special guests will arrive for the
UBS cocktail dinner co-hosted by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd. From 10pm to 2am
additional guests will join the festivities and the ArtNexus Party presented by
Jorge Perez and The Related Group of Florida goes full swing. At 11pm a
surprise concert by a Latin Grammy nominee will get guests dancing to its Latin
beats. All attendees agree that the ArtNexus party is year after year the best
party of the art world international calendar and this year, thanks to
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd., will be no exception!
"MINI wears Bisazza" at design.05 MIAMI
Design seems to be on everybody's mind at the moment. During Art Basel Miami
Beach the much anticipated design.05 MIAMI will be inaugurated. Exhibitions, as
well as business and design symposiums will solicit design enthusiasts to the
famous Moore Building in the heart of Miami's Design District. An international
roster of galleries will participate in Design.05, such as New York-based Barry
Friedman, Paris's Galerie Kreo, London's David Gill Gallery, and Contrasts,
which is based in Shanghai. Attendees will find a series of satellite
exhibitions. Work showcased here will be from the likes of Ron Arad and Tord
Boontje. The ultimate highlight: Zaha Hadid, award-winning architect of this
year's newly opened central building of the BMW Plant Leipzig, has designed a
site-specific installation which will be shown in the central atrium of the
exhibition building. And MINI won't be amiss: "MINI wears BISAZZA" will be
placed in front of the main entrance from where the Zaha Hadid exhibition can
be seen. The mosaic surface made from almost 40,000 brightly colored glass
stones has turned this model into a unique design creation that's not for sale.
Designed by Carlo dal Bianco and Marco Braga from the Italian lifestyle label
Bisazza, the tartan-design MINI made its world début in Milan in April - and
now it feels totally at home outside the Moore Building.

most important news from the international art world will be produced and
distributed free of charge to the visitors to Art Basel Miami Beach.
