BMW presents new models in China. International automobile trade fair Auto China 2006 in Peking: Premiere for the new BMW 5 Series long wheel base - new BMW X3 on show for the first time in Asia.

Munich/Peking. The BMW Group is intensifying its involvement in the Chinese
automobile market. A visible sign of this is the premiere of the models BMW
530Li, BMW 525Li and BMW 523Li at the international automobile show Auto China
2006, which takes place from November 18th - 27th in Peking. The long versions
of the BMW 5 Series, developed exclusively for the Chinese market, combine
outstanding sporty driving properties with the superior interior comfort of an
especially luxurious business sedan. In addition, the new BMW X3 will celebrate
its Asian premiere in Peking. At the Auto China 2006, automobile manufacturers
and suppliers from all over the world present their latest products in an
exhibition area of some 120,000 square metres. The show is regarded as the
leading trade fair of the Chinese automotive industry.

The premiere of the BMW 5 Series with extended wheelbase will be among the
highlights of Auto China 2006. With the new models BMW 530Li, BMW 525Li and BMW
523Li, BMW is responding to the special demands of the Chinese automobile
market. The long versions are distinguished from the BMW 5 Series which has
been successful in China to date by a wheelbase which has been extended by 140
millimetres. The sedan has thus been increased in length between the B and C
columns. In the new models, the rear passengers enjoy significantly increased
space and travel comfort to the very highest standard. High-quality Dakota
leather for seats and door trim ensures a stylish ambience. The standard range
of fittings for the models BMW 530Li and BMW 525Li includes a newly developed
rear console with integrated entertainment system, DVD player, 8-inch screens
set into consoles on the backs of the front seats and a coolbox.

The engines are modern, powerful in-line 6-cylinders. The 3.0 litre engine of
the BMW 530Li delivers 190 kW/258 bhp. The 2.5 litre engine in the BMW 525Li
has an output of 160 kW/218 bhp, with 130 kW/177 bhp in the BMW 523Li. The long
versions of the BMW 5 Series sedan was designed in the BMW development centre
in Munich.. The sedans are manufactured at the Shenyang plant in north-eastern
China, where the BMW 3 Series is also produced for the Chinese market.

The new BMW X3 sees its Asian premiere in Peking. The successful Sports
Activity Vehicle (SAV) with the permanent all-wheel drive system BMW xDrive has
now been given numerous modifications to enhance dynamic performance as well as
a fascinating premium ambience in the interior, excellent performance figures
and a high degree of versatility. There is a new generation of in-line
6-cylinder petrol engines with 3.0 and 2.5 litres capacity which now deliver
200 kW/272 bhp and 160 kW/218 bhp respectively. The two versions of the BMW X3
available on the Chinese market are fitted as standard with a 6-speed automatic
transmission with Steptronic function.

The new BMW Z4 Roadsters with revised design will also be on show at Auto China
2006. The fascinating open-top two-seater has top-class driving dynamics and an
unmistakeable design style, and its new in-line 6-cylinder engines guarantee
sporty driving fun. The following models are available on the Chinese
automobile market: the BMW Z4 Roadster 3.0si with 195 kW/265 bhp and the BMW Z4
Roadster 2.5si with 160 kW/218 bhp.

The presence of the brand BMW in China is undergoing dynamic growth, with the
Chinese region now having become the second most important market in the world
for the BMW 7 Series. In addition to the new models, BMW will also be
presenting the BMW 7 Series, the BMW 6 Series Convertible and the models BMW M5
and BMW M6 Coupé.
